Well, I just watched the Raw of the ova... I'd have to say:

Spoiler for spoiler, whining, and comments:

It was disappointing. Really disappointing. It might just be because I'm a Furuichi fan... but It's like they were trying to cram as many chapters as they possibly could into thirty minutes. Many of the characters were really 'dumbed down' or their personalities were stripped to the bare essentials. Furuichi is no longer the important friend of Oga's that somehow gets caught up in his crazy antics, but instead is someone that gets punched repeatedly.

Beel suddenly became a cockroach that crawls around Oga's back, the first King is taken down by the first fifteen minutes, and Kunieda is seen by the first thirty minutes, nearly gets a tree dumped on her, and only stands there like a freakin' damsel in distress instead of being an awesome woman like she is, and saving herself.

Just plain disappointing...

I hope you know we have a TV series starting this week . The OVA is just showing fans what to expect with the adaptation.

Well, it was so hurried that it was more of a teaser than a real anime

I hope that with the additional time of the serial release, things will be more stable.

One really freakin' long teaser. All the sources I ever saw (admittedly not many) told me that it was supposed to be an ova. Not a teaser.

But I suppose it makes sense now...

It IS an OVA - Original Video Animation. The thing is that it's purpose was to present new anime series to audience, during Jump Super Anime Tour.
