Just saw the first two eps and when the bully was picking on Joey I was half expecting him to say "McFly!!!" and the old proffessor guy to say "How I'm I gonna generate 1.21 GIGAWATTS?"

HEROMAN turns out to be more than what I expected from BONES meets Stan Lee union.

The mood, the introduction, the main heroes, their friends, the pop culture, the neighborhood, the hero's home, and the school.

Everything just as any normal day but turns exciting once his rebuilt toy robot from scrap comes through life via a thunderstorm and gets upgraded to become a super robot.

I'm positive the thunderstorm was actually the alien signal, so Joey ended with more than he had gotten before.

Joey's a hardworker, a talented child who helps his grandma at home and like any average boy goes to school, however, unfortunately, like any ordinary boy that's not popular gets bullied and becomes worse if the girl he's befriending turns out to be the local bully's sister.

I felt like sort of watching Back to the Future, but we get an early teenager owning a big robot and not realizing that a deadly alien invasion is at hand.

And Kudos to Stan Lee. The guy did not pass up the chance to make his so much traditional cameo in anyone of his works, and HEROMAN was no exception in the first episode.

Did Mr. Lee learned how to speak Japanese to say his lines, or was some seiyuu who voiced him?

It's true that it does look like Spike's, and yes, it's pretty damn big.

I know it's depiction of America is quite wrong indeed. It's obvious West Coast City is based on Los Angeles, CA, because I recognize the areas around where I live in Burbank, CA (like that power plant looking place is strikingly similar to the one in northern Burbank, as well as the Metroline station also in Burbank), then there's the intercity freeways over residential areas, not to mention Joey's school area is the same in numerous parts of the Valley.

But it's not those areas that bothers me, it's.... fashion. I mean come on man, considering what the girls were wearing, it's obvious it's hot out. And in LA, nobody wears hoodies, long sleeves and sweaters in broad daylight like that, so why in the world is a majority of the students at the school in WCC wearing sweaters and what not's? Seriously, Will is like the only one who's human, actually wearing a shirt. And Psy? Come on man, vests are like for ski resorts

What the heck, it was nice to see LA again in an anime.



If Denton is holding what I think he's holding, the old American rulers in their schools had these large, fat rulers about 1cm thick (you read that right), only had Inches on them, and they had this metal strip on the outer edge, most likely for precision, but man those were nasty heavy, definitely weaponized curriculum tool right there (I had one of those before)

Yep, another generic episode with a entire episode dedicated to 'with great power comes great responsibility'. Only Joey kept on freaking out unreasonably and not like other heroes start running around and using it for their benefits. The toy only had 'power' when he pressed the buttons so Psy's advice made the most sense to sleep on it. Too much power? Don't play with it then. Joey seems to have leaned towards Ironman class. He didn't bother Sadly though the cops haven't realise guns don't work on aliens. The British learnt it the hard way.

Scenery is nice especially at the factory but Lina is still at damsel in distress mode and looks to stay that way. As such boring character. I expect her brother to accept Joey being with his sister after seeing him save the day a couple of times.

Also, Joey's trap status is getting worse with his magical girl transformation sequence. And if Joey does turn out to be a girl, not only would that make Lina/Joey a lesbian relationship but with the whole setting of 'Aliens...ON THE WEST COAST!!' this would then make it...


Oh yeah and the point of this episode? A bunch of illegal, ugly looking aliens come to America and start committing crimes? Reminds of...

FUCK YOU ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!! GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM!!

In episode 3, expect to see American army failing badly as always in fiction

I actually like watching this anime, read a bit of the manga and loved it as well. Despite this anime being so cliche I just can't help but bring myself to liking it, probably because I've read tons of Marvel comics and watched tons of marvel animations .

All you see in the common Mech style anime, is a character inside the damn robot holding a drive stick in his hand and having like 4 second yelling scene before it shows the robot doing all the work.

Besides the graphics in the ED animation shows a girl in the cheerleading squad saying say "Shy Boy!" repeatedly and shows both Lina and Joey smiling and blushing.

It looks pretty conservative in its character designs so far imo.
