she was speechless more or less at first. then she refuse to believe that he is really yuji but she knew in her heart otherwise. either way she was flustered by it and could not concentrate enough to fight at her full potential plus yuji know her fighting style better than most so she was easily defeated and knocked unconscious by yuji.

and at this point its not sairei no hebi granting yuji's wish because at this point it looks like is yuji granting his own wish since the sarei no hebi and yuji are one and the same at the moment(their personality and memories are perfectly merged with one another). though you could see it as otherwise since this could be part of their grand plan since if yuji can get shana on his side he essentially remove Alastor from his list of dangerous threats.

I've just had a Shakugan no Shana marathon and watched both seasons +all specials +movie for the first time and i have a couple of questions.

I'd like to know if there are any MAJOR difference's between the Shakugan no Shana anime and the light novels? (like the FMA manga and anime)

If there are major difference's in the story/characters what are they?

Or does the anime stay pretty true to the light novels?

Quite a lot of differences, actually. For starters:

#1. Seirei-den, the final arc of the anime's first season, did not exist in the novels. I believe this is also true for the final arc of the second season.
#2. In the novels, Margery was never around during the Friagne arc.
#3. In the novels, Fumina Konoe doesn't exist.

#4. In the Yuji vs. Wilhelmina battle, Yuji used Blutsauger, and quite effectively at that, in the novels, where as in the anime, he was defenseless.
#5. In the novels, the widespread use of Shana's name was explained by both Hayato and Matake getting confused at why the others call Yukari "Shana". With the response as "it's a nickname," Hayato, as class representative, tells everybody to call her Shana. In the anime, it just came out of nowhere.

And that's just the "simple" differences. There are a heck of a lot more.

I advice strongly to read the novels if you liked Shakugan no Shana as anime. Easy to read and very interesting.

I'd love to read the novels but aren't they only in Japanese which i don't speak.

Japanese and Chinese mostly, either will work in this case for you. And learning japanese isn't as hard as one would think.

I'd really like to know the name of that song and learn how to play it on piano. So if you know the name (or by some miracle happen to have a link to some sheet music) I would be very grateful.

I checked it on my DVD just now and it appears to be "A nouveau". This is the 31st track in season two's soundtrack.

3. I read in the novel thread, that with vol. 16 Yuji isn't the main character anymore. What exactly does that mean? How can you change the main character in the middle of the story? Or will there just be a change in perspective? Yuji is on the "dark" side now and he took Shana after the fight with him. So the story will continue (for example) from Wilhelmina's sight?

4. A kinda dumb question: How are the chances for an happy ending for Shana and Yuji? I know, that no one could really answer this, but I think, when you read the novels you get a feeling where the story is heading. So I like to know what the novel readers think. I couldn't stand an ending without Yuji and Shana being happy together.

3. yuji is the antagonist, and the perspective of the story shifts between several characters including yuji's (who is not evil, there is really no "dark" side) through out vol16.
4. chances of a happy ending are slim, but i suppose if the author wants he can pull of a good ending. But the feel of the story at the moment is the bitter sweet ending at best. Yuji is a good guy although a little too determined in the" i must start the world anew" part.
