Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Character Creation and Discussion (second reincarnation)

So... I might be going back to writing about the OFM.

In this case, something inspired by Halo Legends, which may or may not tie up into Force:

"What the hell is that?"

"C'mon, Franz, like you've never seen a Booster Frame before," laughed Emili Nailo, as the pair observed the vehicles currently being worked on in the Aus'ruf's hangar. "You used to be an SAA jockey - I thought you'd like these?"

"One, Em, I was an SAA jockey for all of three weeks. Two, the Swashbuckler was a Lightning Bruiser unit that stayed on the ground. Three, those Booster Frames rely on antigrav to stay up. Knock out the antigrav and they glide like bricks."

"Hello, Air Mage here?"

"And it's a waste of good money, time and resources when it makes a hole in the ground," added Franz Jaeger, pushing his aviator shades up, continuing to scowl at the Booster Frames.

The Booster Frame was one of the crazier inventions from Erusia that the OFM had stumbled upon. A design concept dating prior to First Contact with the TSAB and the Subjugation War, it was essentially a powered motorcyle in space. The user sat on a motorcycle seat, leaning forward, while powerful engines drove the vehicle forward at high speed. Below the rider's legs protruded the barrle of a gauss cannon, and behind the rider, extending out, were missile cells, giving a vagure impression of an inverted T. Mounted under the missile cells were .50 caliber chaingun turrets for antipersonnel work.

A very lethal machine... and completely illegal under TSAB law.

"You're losing your touch, Franz," chuckled Em. "When was the last time you let your hair down and had fun without worrying about payments?"

"....Canicatti, I think. You, me, Glen and a car full of guns and ammo against a hundred angry mobsters."

"...Franz, that was 10 years ago."

"I know. Blame your boyfriend for yanking me out of the Assault Company and throwing me behind a desk."

"That's because your destiny is to do paperwork. Not to try and flirt with my girlfriend."

"Hello, Glen," said Franz, still glaring at the Booster Frames.

"You need to loosen up," murmured a soft voice in his ear, and Franz twitched as a pair of hands wrapped around him and a soft form pressed herself against his back. "See, you're all tense, bruder."

"That comes from your two friends here sticking me behind a desk to do paperwork."

Kha struggled to his feet, Gottesliches Schield flickering and pulsing in tune to the disruptive power fluctuations.

"If there's anyone alive on Wolfram, request permission to release safeties!"

There was static, but the lines in one his holo-monocle swapped to green.

[Formation Origin Outer Cadia, you are clear to engage!]

The same authorization waved into the Golems as well.

"Roger!"

Hanna closed her eyes and focused her thoughts.

"Absolute Faith Barrier, on!"

A glittering field of green particles flooded out from G-3.

Darek tapped out the commands for the G-2 he was synced to.

"Eternium reactor, maximum drive!"

The exo-framed knight and his team of unison devices found themselves free of the Ecliptic drain and lept into the sky.

"Go!" Kha roared. "Valkyrja Formation!!"

G-3 disconnected from her Rider Parts and ejected her unison device. Darek streamed out of the Golem as it too fired off its Cannon Parts and rays of magic burst forth from the seams of its armor. Each part unfurled and reshaped, vaguely falling into formation of the beast it was to become. Kha thundered up as Hanna and Darek fused into his armor, drawing a large Belka sigil in from of his suit. It parted armor and freed itself from the Cleric's legs and arms. Kha crossed his arms across his chest with the look of contempt as his armor, still attached at his back transformed into a key. The assembly slammed into a throne of steel formed by G-2. At the same time, the Cannon Parts docked into place by his flanks, the flash suppressors reconfiguring into thunder fists. G-3, reshaped into a pelvic piece, smashed into the flying torso, followed by the Rider Parts that formed the feet. The Golem then reached over its chest and grasped its head by the ear-pieces, pulling them in to dock on its shoulders, visors glinting as power flooded into once-dormant circuits.

"The absolutely invincible Sacred Relector..."

The Golem smashed its fists together, scratching a faint burst of sparks free, then drew them back into stance.

"...is now present!!"

The prototype booster frame punched out and dispersed the transformation field.

Noland scoffed as the Golem, now towering over him at more than twice head level, landed on the enemy by his side. "Aren't you overcompensating a little?"

"As Augustus once said, 'there is no such thing as too much firepower.'"

Both knights began feeding mana into their super-devices.

"Here goes!!"

Personality: Enthusiastic about learning and sparring, but not really outgoing otherwise. Talkative about subjects that he knows about, and curious about things he doesn’t know very well. Lashes out with harsh words when angry, but can be quick to apologize, if it was directed at a friend.

Hmm, like you said, it's the basics. It could use some more details on his place in the world. Things like who was he? Where did he grow up? What is he doing now? Does he know anyone?

And then Patch 4.3 hit.

Now I can't unsee Neltharion gone mad and clawing against the heroes who have come to bring him down...

Yeah, I know. I'm working on a few other things at the moment, so I haven't been able to really work on him much...

And I tried to avoid having him know anyone major (at least in canon) other than by name or getting missions... XP

I'm currently working on a bit of a rework of the OFM and trying to tone down some of the dysfunction while at the same time make more sense. Sorta. Kinda.

...the problem is that thanks to playing Take On Helicopters what I write keeps shifting into "Helicopter Operations Nanoha Style" with Vice as the POV character. -__-

The problem with Helicopter Operations Pilot Vice as a concept is that it's one that's better experienced rather than told. Take On Helicopters works because the player is immersed into the world and doing their best to fly. Telling it in a story... won't really work IMO.

Well, sorry that I'm more interested in working on my own fic.

And also I don't know how to contribute to that, beyond scratching my head (can't play games in the house). And I'm conserving my monies to play WoW and SWTOR at the lanshops so... no way I'm able to research and give proper contribution, especially since one has to experience it.

So by winging it: Would a doujin game format help that fic idea instead?
