That's as good as an excuse as any to watch Eden again.

That was a really fun episode though. We get 10 more and movie? Sounds like the perfect sweet spot for a series like this.

Something odd: When Akira was looking at his passports, I noticed that his dates of birth vary greatly. One went as far back as 1979, while another one had him pegged as a guy of 1993.

Edit: What exactly is the story behind the pants? Or does IG think that all Americans are that nice?

Just watched the first episode...
quality is outstanding and the character design is especially nostalgic.
the plot is somewhat interesting...
I wonder if there is going to be an equal distribution of action and romance... but most probably this is going to be a more action based anime.

Wow!!

That's the best anime 1st episode I've seen since Dennou Coil. Although Dennou Coil was able to keep it up for 26 episodes.

I.G. certainly delivers quality. I enjoyed RD Sennou Chosashitsu very much and would have loved Ghost Hound if it had turned out to be about anything.

The first episode being in America was really great. I know that part of D.C. intimately and I must say they really captured the flavor of the area perfectly. Although of course some details were flawed.
Spoiler for American venues:

Would even a Disney version of Ousaka be as accurate?

This is also the first anime I've ever seen that used real American voices!!!
Spoiler for Japanese gesture:

I also enjoyed the little discussion in the airport about the differences between American and Japanese values.
Spoiler for American vs Japanese values:

And their current perceived places in the world.
Spoiler for national positions:

Very enlightening.

Strangely, 世界の中心 (center of the world) was the same phrase I used the first time I stood in front of the White House, too.

The interesting Americana aside, this is a great show (so far).

The music is fabulous, including OP, ED, and BGM. The plot is intriguing, the characters involving, the animation cutting edge, and the whole production first rate. But all that was true about the 1st episode of Ghost Hound too.

Spoiler for plot speculation:

^ Spoiler tags please... That aside, I agree with you mostly, except that Real Drive was a big letdown for me. Dennou Coil is amazing.

RD was interesting, def. a mixed feeling show but it was good. I'll have to watch Dennou Coil it seems.

They are a very experienced group, since they are technically a merger between Ureshii and Froth-Bite (whose releases you should at least have seen some of). I'm very glad they're picking this up because I know they'll do it justice (hah, a pun).

You should definitely watch Dennou Coil, it's one of my all-time favourites.

yes, this show exceeded my already, insanely high expectations. I already love Akira and Saki. ROFL at the amazingly growing johnny scene. AND NO ENGRISH

The op and ed were effing amazing as well--I enjoyed the ed a tad more though due to the papermation.

So yes, I'm hooked. I'm going to enjoy this

Hmm, kinetic typography vs. stop motion. Tough choice in terms of style, each is very effective in its own way. Musically I like the ED more, but that's because I don't much like Oasis' brand of rock.

From the first episode alone, I can tell that this has much potential to be an all-time favorite for me.

It was an interesting episode. Surprisingly good English and nice backgrounds made it fun to watch, and I loved the opening and the ending. They seem like fun characters too.

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to joke around about being a terrorist. You know, all people here do that.

Pretty much everything about this episode has alot of promise for me. Seems like from the cast list they actually had proper American English speakers speaking lines. It'll be intriguing to see how this all plays out, and if the show executes it well.

I believe they did have english speakers doing the english cast.

I didnt like how they put japanese and english together as if all the americans knew both languages, that was a tiny bit odd. Nothing i cant look past though.

Spoiler for Summing up what i think:

THIS. ANIME. IS. AWSOMENESS.

The first episode is very good. I like it so far.

One of the less animes, that use good speaking english(i hate, if a japanese guy tries to take a role of a english/american speaking person|it just sound to bad ).

I watched it in HD 720p and the quality of the series itself is brilliant. They put a lot of work into it.

OP and ED are just.. AWSOME!

In the second set of end credits have a first column of written Japanese (which I think are characters in the show), and the other column has English names, which I'm presuming is a cast of voice actors, and I'd figure they were the English speakers.

By now I think it's obvious that terrorism will be a major emphasis in this show. And maybe a challenge on how Washington DC (and the White House) is seen as the center of the world. But why not? Right now the rest of the world is blaming the US for the current economic crisis. Oops, I digressed...

As many of us probably have discovered, for every 10 frames of the opening there is one that is sufficient to make a wallpaper even out of the screencap.

Here's my current, straight out of screencap.
