this ep. amaze me a lot,... thought some moments wasn't that cool, as they suppose to be.. Lots of new songs in there, expecialy the first one presented, before the fight. I'm looking forward for the OST and character song singels...... looks like great music compilation to be.
I haven't even decided for Alto's potential girl, both Lanka and Sheryl have their "+" and "-" 9/10 from me |

If Alto is truly the #2 pilot then he deserves the shot. Maybe Ozma has other reasons for not letting him train. When they lose a few more pilots, they may reconsider.

Personally happy they didn't let him into a VF so simply, Alto and Hikaru are pretty much (probably done that way, theres ALOT of other similarities to the original SDF Macross) similar and it took long training for Hikaru to reasonably to become a pilot and he was doing pretty good in the first few episodes like Alto. |

Wow. I really, really like what I'm seeing so far with Macross Frontier. All the frustrations that I had with the franchise after Macross Zero seemed to have evaporated.
Mecha battles with Valks in faux San Francisco (SF being my favorite city)!!! This new series sure has a lot going for it: nice mecha scenes shown in the finest Macross tradition; music composed by Yoko Kanno; the prospect for an interesting love triangle (foreshadowed in a rather tongue-in-cheek way by the beautifully upbeat OP theme). Also, very intriguing characters with lots of room for development. Although I get vibes of a retelling of the original Macross, as long as the story is epic win, I won't mind at all I'm looking forward to the chemistry between Alto, Sheryl and Ranka. I hope they don't make Ranka into some kind of weakling. I'm rooting for her to realize her dream and shine as an idol. Can't wait for the Triangler single and the first OST to be released. Alien bait should retire now before it's too late.
I can see it now. At her first Macross Frontier concert, she attracts the Vajra fleet who turns the Macross fleet into stardust. Besides those idols don't seem to have happy lives. Look at Basara, Mylene, Myung and Minmei. Let's not forget Sara Nome.

you see?! This is why they gotta keep bayonets on the gunpods that was standard in 2040 for Eden defence force to counter Zentradi rebels.
Ozma would had a far safer and easier time, but kudos to him, having balls with that tanto charge. i don't think anyone else would of done that.

I'm betting that there's more to her heritage that's not being told to her. Maybe calling her part Zentradi is part of the cover. But way to go a second generation Zentrandi (Meltlandi)-human mix.
I still want to know why were blood samples taken of her and Alto.

This episode is pure
Reminds me a lot of the first macross with Hikaru saving Minmay. The BGM is superb! One of Yoko Kanno's much better work recently. Slightly Brain Powered-esque. Also a nice tribute to Macross 7 The new ED is much better than the first episode's ED. The first one felt kinda unfinished.

well the first ending was a pure tribute to the Do you remember love song+music. It totally hit it back home for me and made me remember Macross when i watched it as a kid.
The new ending is very cool too. The Maaya Sakamoto into song felt had a hint of Macross feel to it, yet also felt so new. Thumbs up for Fire Bomber ! yayyyy Spoiler:
Anyone know the orchestrated/instrumental insert song they were playing during the fight scenes?? It sounded so familar at certain parts.. The alto rescue of lynn minmei.. i mean Lanka Lee scene was pretty awesome. Took Macross "to a new level" although.. it would've been so much cooler if they dramatized it more.. and had shown a far away side view angle of Alto grabbed Ranka's hand in space.
