Too much Dakka. You'll run out of ammo too quickly even if you have belt feeds into the cabin and no room for passangers.

Also how much would that, plus ammo weigh?

Otherwise you will be using one gun at a time until it runs out, that switch to the next one until you are all out of ammo.

Unless those are on some type of ball based mechanically controlled swivel and he has a very sophisticated targeting or control suite, he won't hit a damn thing. But as a deterrent FEAR is very powerful and I must say if I ever see that Hummer coming towards me ill need several clean pairs of undies.

Edit: I couldn't sleep without imagining the sound of them firing in concert.... Either a nightmare or a Symphony.

Decided to go for some parts and upgrades that I've wanted for awhile while they're still available, after seeing the price spike and the omnipresent out-of-stock icon next to just about everything.

While it's mostly minor stuff, I gotta say I'm really looking forward to this

AR trigger assembly? I bought several boxes of .38 Special ammunition myself. Funny thing though, I notice most people are ignoring revolvers, wonder why?
Oh, and found a sweet S&W model 66 too!

Your going love the Geissele SSA. I have been running one for a year now in my 3 gun rig. Its just right, smooth with a bit of a 2 stage brake. When you run it fast, you will hardly know its there. I wanted to try the Super 3 gun, but kind of like the feel of the brake point in my triggers vs a smooth uptake that has no notice of release.

The way things are going though, I think that Dillon 550 will be a sooner purchase than I thought. I single stage my 308 and 30-06 but need to really start rolling 9, 40, 45 and most of all 223/556 if this insanity keeps up.

"The Army is pursuing cased telescoped ammunition. This development is far
along, and they say a new LMG could be fielded within two years (2014) with
unequivocal support. The Marine Corps is pursuing caseless ammunition, which is
less developed and will take several more years to refine."

See:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSAT_light_machine_gun

The Germans already tried caseless ammo with the G11:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch_G11

But only 1000 of those were produced, and they were eventually replaced with
the G36.

So, is caseless ammo ready for prime time? Or should the military go for the
Army's cased telescoped round?

If the past is any indication, I'd say the programs will last a few years and then gets discarded, yet again

From the Military/Gov bureaucratic nonsense I have watched, over the years, I doubt the AR series rifle will ever be replaced with anything else anytime soon. How many times has the Army called for Rifle or Pistol competitions? How many have we seen in the industry heed the call, then the Military goes back and says the M4 is sufficient.

I was curious about 300AAC. It looks to be the wonder caliber and with SAAMI certification would allow for more mfgs and proliforation. It also looked to be the answer with stopping power and weight as intermediate calibers go.

I like this article better. Long range shooting is an art. And I have just been working on it in the last year, but I really do need more formal instruction that what I can read.

Whatever happened to the 6.8mm & 6.5mm ammo the Army was experimenting with?

With advent of weapon systems like the XM25 and now stuff like this, I can't help but think in the next few decades we're in for a shift in small arms technology that could prove to be as dramatic as the switch from muzzle loading smooth-bore muskets to repeating rifles.

It looks like the call is going out again:

Industry Shooting for Army’s First New Rifle in Half Century:

"The M16’s streak as the longest-running standard U.S. infantry rifle could be ended
later this year when the Army announces results from two years of sorting through
candidates for the “individual carbine” competition."

If I have to put money on it, I'd say this would again go nowhere, especially with the budget cuts.

Too many companies are trying to make the new rifle "look high tech", rather than make it functional and effective.

Before procuring a new rifle, the military needs to decide what the next rifle round is
going to be.

Will it be case-telescoped, or caseless? 6.5mm, 6.8mm, or will they stick with 5.56mm?

Until this is settled, I don't see a new rifle program making much progress.
