Powerful ending. This season has been really good (MUCH better than last season) but I still can't help but feel like they've squashed too much into 10 episodes. It felt a little rushed.

In a way I was already expecting it, as this is the fate of the Rasetsu the moment they drink it. A very bittersweet ending, topping off one of the most surprising sequels I've seen in recent years.

Ghosts don't wipe away tears. This is an otome adaptation.

IF you want to take this literally. It could merely be symbolic, a part of say her fantasy, and does not necessarily translate that he was actually alive to wipe a real tear away.

Otome adaptation. It wasn't meant to be symbolic. We already have the pic of what a spirtual Hiji would look like in this thread. And the pic from the game extra Hiji's route so we know what that looks like too since we've been exposed to a variation of it for 10 eps now.

I'll just continue to say, "Wow this was a slightly open ending."

Edit: The scene in the OP occurs after the final scene in the epilogue.

Ending is confusing because of Hijikata standing at the end which is obviously fails...
For me it looks more like he died... the tear wiping could be an illusion or his last action.

Anyway, I have lately found bunch of pictures so was wondering what I should post first... any propositions?

I finally managed to watch the final episode in subs, and my opinion is Hijikata is alive. He drunk Yukimura's blood a total of three times, in Hakuouki Kitan Shinsengumi that is a good ending.

Yippeee!!! I'm not the only one in this thread that thinks so!

You guys should read on livejournal what they did to the players in Okita's good ending route. Now that was mean/sadistic of the game maker.

My vote goes for Hiji, Saito and Okita pic dump please and any Hiji x Chizuru pics left. And...any pics from that prequel with the new guy, and the school OVA game route. Too bad we have a long wait for that to come out.

okita's route was so... ambiguous

the anime covered all the Hijikata x Chizuru pics, the only ones left are from Hakuoki Zuisouroku

I thought that having to buy the fan disk for clarification of the ending was very mean of them.

Of course, I wish the game was over here.

So who's the girl with Kazuma? If he had her in this series, he would have survived. No need to chase Chizuru.

I think that it is Chizuru herself... in his route probably, poor guy.

After watching it a few times, I liked the previous last one rather then the Heisuke caramelldansen.

I may be biased though, since it has Okita in it.

Would anyone know how many episodes there are supposed to be? The trackers say 12 and 12 for 24 total http://animesuki.com/series.php/1622.html http://animesuki.com/series.php/1707.html

But in spite of that, it seems like there are 10 rather than 12 episodes in the 2nd season. DB lists 22 as the end, and so does the anime News Network.

I'd also like to point out, while 1622 links to this thread, 1707 doesn't at the moment, and it could since this thread is about both seasons.

Another thing is Ruri Subs' episode listed in the 2nd tracker, it says 21 which would be very confusing for a reader. Dattebayo also numbered their eps according to continuousness without restarting at 1 for S2, but it was relabelled for the tracker. So shouldn't Ruri's? In this case, I'm assuming 21 would be episode 9 of season 2. Due to that, it shold be at the bottom, DB's 10/22 should since it seems to be the only last one.

Also, as many people may know, Aksys is going to release during the first quarter of 2012 Hakuouki for PSP in English with the original seiyuus and no dub. If it succeeds they may bring more otome games so it would be great if people buy it

Here there is an interview talking about why they decided to bring Hakuouki instead of another from otomate (the second part of the interview (the link is at the end of the first part of the interview) where they talk about the chaseable guys is hilarius
