New SILENT HILL (By Kojima & Del Toro, starring Norman Reedus)

So the game [P.T] that was revealed on Sony's Gamescom Conference turns out to be a new Silent Hill game... Not only that, it's by Hideo Kojima...

...And Guilleromo Del Toro...

...And Norman Reedus of Walking dead fame...

...And in the Fox Engine...

...Basically everything we wanted and didn't know we wanted !

(Warning: Lots of "OH MY GOD!")

the commentating made the trailer highly underwhelming. Some blood, some innards, pitch black with a flashlight, backstory voices, but nothing really chilling you. Or is it just me?

It's not even a trailer, it's a teaser, but the main point was the surprise at the end

You have to understand that this wasn't official announced as Silent Hill, in the conference it was revealed as "P.T", all of this was only found out after people played the teaser themselves.

I guess Evil Within and Phantom Pain teaser are my standards so might be an unfair comparison.

There's also Guillermo del Torro working on horror. Something I find hard to comprehend as I only know him for Hellboy and Pacific Rim.

So, if I'm understanding this right, they:
a) announced a demo for a new horror game called "P.T."
b) after beating the demo (which is by all accounts bizarre, obtuse, and terrifying) it's revealed that the whole thing was a "Playable Teaser" (PT, get it?) for a new Silent Hill game by... DEL TORO AND FUCKING KOJIMA?

Wat.

This is even better than Raiden!

so, i totally thought that commentating voice was a thing within the game. and it was breaking the 4th wall.

Apparently Pan's Labyrinth had some weird shit... Also, he was the guy who was suppose to make "At the mountains of madness" so he knows his stuff.

Yeah, Pan's Labyrinth was... well, it was something, that's for sure.
I wouldn't exactly call del Toro a master of -subtle- horror though, he loves his crazy over-the-top shit as much as Kojima does.
This might be a Silent Hill to remember.

Chances are we'll get a "wink-wink" moment involving a crossbow?

Sutherland in MGS

Reedus in SH

Who is Kojima going to get to star in a new ZOE?

Hopefully [Silent Hills] would retain some bare bones combat mechanics like in the originals.

Keanu Reeves for ZOE?

Hopefully. Maybe more improvised weapons? Like breaking a cudgel off of a table or something? Also finding the right balance. You can't run from everything, but you shouldn't be like Alex and pulling off knife combos.

Keanu as the UI for for the Jehuty or whatever new orbital frame.

I wouldn't object to Karl Urban

Yeah, Del Torro isn't really a blood and gore horror guy. His stuff is more....atmospheric, with some jump scares and fake outs, that kind of stuff. It's meant to be unnerving more than anything else. It's a good fit for Silent Hill, I think.

Kojima has me scratching my head, although it may be a good thing for him to do something other than Metal Gear. Maybe this is his chance to try something different?

If the very first Phantom Pain reveal trailer (before it was MGSV) with the hospital scene was any indication, Kojima has some idea about what to do.

We ALL Know it was Kojima's idea to do the playable tease and name it P.T. becayuse WHO ELSE would troll people with P.T. knowing NO ONE would EVER figure out the initials! XD

But REALLY!? Kojima!? Oh god there better be a fucking box to hide in! and Daryl goes "This... feels right... I feel like a boss!"

I know that Guillermo del Torro produced some good horror Spanish language movies

There was a BOX here. It's gone now.

Ahahaha! In his interview with Geoff Keighley, Kojima pretty much said

Quote:
“Originally, we [Guillermo del Toro and I] were aiming to make a game that will make you pee your pants. But we changed our mind. Now, we’re making a game that will make you sh*t your pants.”

But there is a limit to how scary you can make a horror game, Kojima said. Unlike movies or attractions, where you can close your eyes and wait for the horror to pass, you can’t do that in video games, which might cause some people to stop playing. This can be concerning. But Kojima doesn’t care, they’re doing it anyway.

“The limited edition will probably include a pair of trousers,” Kojima joked.

Silent Hills “will make you sh*t your pants,” Kojima says

I know I'm too chicken to ever finish a game like this but I'll still say: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY KOJIMA-SAN!
