I strongly disagree.

Spoiler:

Watching the episode with subs, I wasn't bored at all anymore. Just because they exchanged some blows before, talking about things was pretty realistic here - they are no enemies, and none of them was itching for a fight, since they had no reason to. Until Kaori snapped.

Keep in mind folks, this is no Bleach or Naruto here. If you watch it with this kind of mindset, I can already predict that you will be disappointed. The story is much more complex than average shounen action (which is one more reason why I strongly disagreed with this classification earlier on). We have an ongoing storyline here, not swordfight of the day.

Edit: I would have nothing against a Mikoto extra though

That's true. Bleach and Naruto characters would know how to properly use a katana.

Hint: It usually involves unsheathing it first.

"Don't make me say my magical name " business was as infuriating as not unsheathing the katana. Using wires was worse. I agree with Touma on this whole situation. What a bunch of idiots! No way in h*** would I believe that cock and bull story.

Hopefully, she'll be gone after ep. 5 or 6 or she redeems herself by actually using the katana.

Kaori was everything i expected, though it's a shame it'll probably be a while before we see her in action again. I hope not.

So going by the preview, i guess Touma will try to use his magic canceler to stop the memory erase? That's the impression i got from the preview, and it sounds like a pretty good idea.

Also the musical score really shinned in this episode. Great stuff.

How exactly is that a good idea? Going by what Kaori said this episode, Index'll die if she doesn't get her memories erased. Stopping the erase solves nothing, even Touma's hotblooded ranting focused on how they should treat her after erasing the memories rather than the erasing itself. Using the magic canceler to stop the memory erase honestly sounds like a pretty stupid idea if he's actually going to do that.

"When all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail." I certainly wouldn't be surprised if his hand plays a key role in this, but I don't see how stopping the memory erasing ritual is particularly useful. If anything, somehow erasing the Grimoires in her head makes more sense as a "save Index" solution. Although that depends on how exactly they're in her head. On one hand, she seems to have a photographic memory and it's kind of implied that she was just forced to read all of them, on the other hand she has a split personality kinda thing (operating system?) resulting from the grimoires, so maybe they're in her head more "magically" and he can erase them. /shrug

Meh. Too much monotony, not enough action. The manga at least had the flashback to make the long-winded exposition tolerable. Plus the conclusion to the fight was a lot more epic.

At least Kaori provided some nice eye candy Someone tell JC Staff to get off the loli horse and make a spinoff series with her.

That would be only because Touma wasn't allowed to fight like a real person would. People in a fight would have thrown stuff in her face to blind her, sucker kicked her in the groin and then let her have it.

Her attacks were only in 1 direction. That's her weakness. I bet if you get that katana away from her she wouldn't last long in hand-to-hand combat.

This wasn't a fight. It was a setup so that we could feel sorry for Kaori and Stiles. It didn't work and only proves how naive they were...

Humans only use 10% of their brain in their lifespan and Index was left with 15%. Even if she runs around for a year, there is no need for a reset in theory. The reason for the reset is suspect imo.

You think Touma can stand up to flying roundhouse kicks? She's clearly more athletic them him in the first place. Remember, he's just an ordinary high school student, not a experienced street fighter.
