Why do you think it will be ruined ?

They only have 1 arc for material. I think OVA is better option than animating 1 arc into 12 episode of TV series.

In that way they can have more focus on their budget + no ugly censoring will appear =p

The only problem for me is.... its only (rumoured) released on Blu-Ray >_>

Mmmm.. I dont know about that.. it is a VERY long arc... I would hate to have it stuffed and shortened >_<.. though, something is better than nothing..

It doesnt say how many OVA will make up the series though? I mean Record of Lodoss War had 13, Tenchi had 8. I dont think itll be just one or two (I can pray!) but I bet itll be less then 12 since thats what the other seaons were.

Guess I should change the thread title, although Im keeping "season" in the title for now...

It depends on the material. Some people that are following the manga believe there aren't enough material to do a 12-episode length series. OVA is a good news in that regards. It means the production company won't feed anime-original crap to the fanbase. Also, the quality of the overall production usually tend to be better in OVA than TV series (though the vice versa is also true). So, an OVA series might not be as bad of a deal after all. The last point is, with an OVA the animators have the luxury of time where they can allow the author/mangaka to go forward at his own pace to come up with new material or for a decisive conclusion.

Well I'm hoping for Higurashi Rei style (not an episode released every month or two, i mean 6-7 episodes )... I think that would be perfect, and could go almost perfectly with the pace of the manga.. and as monir said the animators can take their time with the material.. hope for the best I guess!

Well, considering the latest arc is at least twice as long as the Fujiyama arc, which lasted 6 episodes, there actually might be enough for a regular 12-ep series. But whatever...I'm down for OVAs too. Hopefully it means some amazing animation, not that the TV series wasn't pretty damn solid already.

Well hopefully an OVA means that they will addres a problem that has been bugging me thoughout the anime-the lack of dramatic tention. The only bits that had dramatic tention was the Rock standing up to Revi bit(after the submarine ep) and the vampire twins at their moments of death. Other than that it has been badass, funny punchlines and cool action with a solid plot to keep me going. But I never qiute felt the intensity of most of these episodes , but they were all solid .

Hope they get the OVA done soonm like it should c ome out by mid of next year hopefuly, and the eng dub should come out at end of next year-truly an awesome christmas-LOL.

with the current arc going as long as it is i have to agree that an OVA probably will be the best option to cover it.

Yes, but let's hope they are doing it in OVA not just because they want to limit the amount of money they have to spend for the making of the 3rd season.

Few OVAs? Maybe I missed it, but where was it announced how many episodes there would be? People see "OVA" and instantly assume it will be short, but that's not always the case.

And regardless of how long the third installment will be, I have faith in MADHOUSE. They've done Black Lagoon justice so far, and I have no reason to doubt them.
