Not necessarily. Series like Negima, Darker Than Black, Macross F, etc. simulataneously worked on the manga and the anime adaptation with little gap. The animators still have to draw all those faces and everything. So if you add those text from the script inside a bubble and bind those pages, you now have a manga. A clever production company like Sunrise/Bandai won't miss out on the chance to get the fans to shell out money. That said, however, an anime adaptation probably won't materialize at least till the Spring season of 2010. We should have an idea in a week or so when the Newtype article is published.

Actually this being set in the Edo period peaks my interest quite a bit. I just finished my first semester and I took a Japanese history class, the first thing we learned about was the Edo Period. Specifically the reign of Tokugawa Ieyasu.
I have a feeling that Tokugawa Ieyasu will indeed be the "Lelouch" of this new series. He was the first Edo shogun. He also made way for the entire Tokugawa system which changed Japan greatly. Another historical figure whom I may thing you'll find interesting is Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who may very well be the "Suzaku" of this manga. Toyotomi was an ally of Tokugawa but was unable to become the shogun because he was not of samurai lineage. See the similarities now? Tokugawa was royalty while Toyotomi was not. This is just the way I see things, it seems that my classes have indeed been worth my time and money. Take this as just my opinion and nothing official. I'm just coming up with a theory here. |

Uh-oh.
You've got 3 types of spin off's NoN Suzaku of the counterattack and that kiddie manga with Lelouch in the edo period and his geass was summoning an army or something like it. Sounds not-so-S1-like-interesting

I still say everyone is worrying way too much, there just likely going to push a lot of different projects forward at the same time, and I fully expect an anime of some kind to arise at some point. Just have to be patient.

Everyone is getting hyped over nothing at this point, wait till the fog has lifted before screaming that you can see land on the other side Besides the pics are about a new manga, doesn't mean that the anime will be about that as well |

Going back in time to show a different era and a different conflict always seemed like the most sane thing to do. Make that the second most sane thing to do by the way, the best option would be to let the franchise be. This show was Lelouch of the Rebellion before it became Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. It's not about Geass. It's not about mechas. It's about Lelouch and his rebellion. Everything revolved around Lelouch and since Lelouch really died in Turn 25 a sequel would truly be worthless. A prequel would also be uninteresting in my opinion cause Lelouch would be too young to make a good protagonist and the original series already covered what happened in the past, even though it didn't go into detail. To go even further back in time would be a much better option. They do have a character that was credited as a main character but that really played the roll of a supporting character in the original series. This character also happen to have a past that is unknown, and a lifespan that is several hundreds of years. She also happen to be the origin of the original protagonists Geass powers. Like I said, making a spin-off series set in the past is probably the most sane option available. All you need is a set of new characters, a conflict and C.C.. The good thing about this being set in the Edo period is that we might get to see how the Holy Britannian Empire began to grow into what it is/was "today". As most of you know the Code Geass history diverges with Ceasar's invasion 55 B.C. = year 0 atb (Ascension Throne Britannia). After that point though the English monarchy in the Code Geass world was identical to our timeline until the death of Elizabeth I, which happened in 1603. What's so special about this year? Well, the Edo period runs from 1603 to 1868. We might get to see Elizabeth I's illegitimate son Henry IX grab the throne instead of James I, since this supposedly happened in the Code Geass timeline. Also, insert some of the theories about C.C.'s real identity. =)

Maybe already posted:
http://www.ggkthx.org/2009/12/07/new-code-geass-manga/ This confirm it, seems a alternative manga like nightmare of nunnally or suzaku/power-ranger counterattack. |
