I need some help identifying what this flower is. My TLs and myself cannot figure it out and it's really starting to bug us. A monk comes across an entire huge field of these and just acts like he's freaking out. Knowing what this flower is would (hopefully) help us understand why he'd do that.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There we go. Sorry about that. The image just randomly stopped working.

At first, I thought this might be a lotus due to it's connections with Hinduism and Buddhism, but after looking at a bunch of pictures, it definitely doesn't match those.
