Oh wow, back when the project was announced, I entered Tsuritama into google translate and got "fishing egg", turns out, it IS about fishing O.o
And might I just say, that art style reminds me of Cencoroll. Hell, the uniform looks exactly the same. |

Whoa, another series about high school boys? That should about fill the quota for the next decade.
Miyu-miyu and Sugita reunited, plus Uchiyama Kouki and as far as I can tell, a first timer. Looks interesting.

Seems they are finding out they can actually make money from this type of show and they decided they might have one story about pretty boys for every 100 about pretty girls now.
Just saw the trailer on the main site, looks rather unique, in an "Arakawa Under The Bridge" sort of way. |

The key visual on the official website has already been changed: http://www.tsuritama.com/index2.html
I am definitely wondering whether they have a second character designer just for the fish!

For some reason I am having a difficult time wrapping my head around the concept - not against it per se. Not having difficulty in "theory", mind you - it just seems an odd combination of components to me. Well - I guess I will give it a look at least.

How about Kimi to Boku? Or Danshi Koukousei? Now if you want to go back a few years, it wasn't such an uncommon thing at all. It's only because those shows are so rare now that ones like this stand out so much.

Hmm ... did not watch Kimi to Boku, so can't say much about it. Danshi Koukousei doesn't really strike me too much as "slice of life" as much as "comedy" per se, but that is just my own opinion I guess.
Admittedly the comment/thought was "off the top of my head", but still, since I am drawing a blank here maybe you could list a few that occur to you as representative of slice of life with male characters as the leads ... in the same manner as this show seems might portray. If any help I am kinda thinking of shows like Aria, iDOLM@STER, Tamayura Hitotose, Sketchbook Full colorS and K-On reference wise for "slice of life" (to use some "recent" examples that are almost entirely female cast). Maybe the problem is my premise?
