New Gundam Live-Action movie?

http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=18904

Gunota Headlines posted a link to a report that states Bandai & Sunrise are involved in making a Gundam Live-Action movie based on the first series. I personally wouldn't jump to any conclusions, but what's your take on this?

Wait a minute Zeta Gundam is going to be released in Italy, Europe? An UC Gundam is going to be released in Europe, pinch me I must be dreaming.

Oh wait this is about the live action, meh, I think Gundam shouldn't involve CGI (except cell shading) nor live action but that's just me.

I wasn't to keen on the new SD Gundam series. The cel-shading just kinda weirded me out and made it seem like a "Playhouse Disney" show. I was expecting Bob the Builder to come out and build them a spaceport or something.

You are my friend for life then. Evolve 5 was awesome, though I would've preferred to have seen it with regular animation. And G-Saviour's CGI just did not blend well. Hell the story did not blend well. If they're going to do a movie with CGI, they need to do it right. ILM-style. It's the best we could hope for.

Bandai & Sunrise probably know that G-Savoiur was one big flop, so I'm sure that they'll atleast try to learn from that mistake. But at the same time, you can also expect alot of name changes, and different looking mechs. This movie is supposedly produced by a Hollywood company so they need to make the movie appeal to movie goers in general.

Watch Amuro be like "Andy" and Bright be like "Brad".

"BRAD YOU CAN'T TAKE MY GUNDAM AWAY FROM ME ::Takes a sip of PEPSI:: I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN PILOT IT!"
"::Brad bitchslaps:: QUIET! IT'S SOLITARY CONFINEMENT FOR YOU! ::Eats some pizza from PIZZA HUT::"

Although I agree with you I have to say Evolve 5 is a good start if they want to use computer animation in a Gundam show.

Hiring ILM will be a great idea its just too expensive at the moment.

Uh, are you high or something?

Amuro and Bright have already been set as the english names in the original Mobile Suit Gundam.

They can't change them, Moron.

.......oh man...so many jokes...my head...about to...burst...

Please tell me you're kidding before I burst out laughing. You DO know I was kidding right? You of all people should know, judging by your avatar, that it was just me mocking the infamous Naruto dub hoax where they changed Naruto and Sasuke's names to "Nathan" and "Sean". Priceless.

Uhm...I was talking about the live action movie of Evangelion, Weta released some sketches a year ago and on the sketches it said some English names for the character instead of the original name.
So what's my point? Even though you guys are joking don't be surprised if it does happen.
And really Komataguri do something about your behaviour

Only ILM could do the CGI necessary to make a live-action Gundam movie a success. And you'd need some decent actors. Though hiring ILM would severely cut into your budget...

Man if you look at SW ep 2, you'll see what I'm talking about. Movie sucked, but what good CGI...seamless..couldn't tell what's CG and what's real.

If they're going to do CGIs they better do it as good as FF:TSW not some ridiculous G-Savior crap.

I wonder who'd direct this? Aren't the Wachowski's big anime fans? They don't have anything to do now that the Matrix is done.

Lord not the Wachowski bros. Their heads got inflated by the first Matrix so much so that they flopped 2 and 3. If they make it, it might turn into something that people won't like.

I personally liked the sequels to the Matrix, even if it took some thinking to reason through.

But I think Gundam is meant to be a sappy All Quiet On The Western Front type of commentary on war and tragedy, except that it ends happily ever after.
