This isn't an early victory. It's a victory 6 volumes in the making. The hints have been there all throughout the series, and the only real obstacle ever was Kirino. Ayase lost out once she was revealed, Minami never had a chance once Kyousuke got deep into the otaku culture, and Saori is still missing a critical event to link her and Kyousuke... she's too much of a bystander at this point.

And with it clear that Kuroneko and Kirino are aware of how each other feel for Kyousuke, I can see one last fight, but if Kruoneko loses Kyousuke, it's not going to be for normal reasons, and there will have to be some upsetting development to shake the link that was set this volume.

I wasn't talking about it as coming out of nowhere or anything like that. I mean that if things are at this point but there is still one or more novels worth of story to be told, I imagine it will not be a permanent thing because DRAMA.

Drama is definitely in the cards, sure. There are at least 1 more novel worth of stuff to go through.

But that doesn't mean that they are destined not to end up together. Rather, if the novels look like they don't wrap up in the next 1 or 2 volumes, then I doubt Kuroneko lasting through until the end. But if it's just another volume away from the end, it's completely reasonable to expect drama that resolves in their love triumphing over all.

Can someone explain to me the destiny shaking event that happened between Kuroneko and Kyousuke this volume? Some people are making it out to be as if Kuroneko has it set in stone already, and I don't understand how this could have happened in a couple of pages worth of development. Not to mention Kyousuke never really showed any serious interest in a romantic relationship with Kuroneko that I could recall.

It wasn't just those lines that have been circulating around the past few pages. The entire volume builds up on the theme, and those last few pages were sort of just the climax.

Just to clarify I wasn't ragging on those series, I was just using them as examples of career-defining works. I doubt SnS's author will ever move on to a new story once he decides to end things.

Agree, this series is about slice of life, "normal" romantic comedy, more intone to ToraDora fo I won't expect it to last more than 2 books after that, other than that the most I can see are Spin-offs to expand the series similar to Bungaku Shōjo and Bakemonogatari. This series is not a romantic harem comedy that can live on episodic happening nor a pure love comedy with main characters crawls on snail pace despise mutual attraction. I'm expecting one more book of fall out from Vol 7 and another more to wrap it up.




Anyway, after reading what those who had already read v7 here is my thought:

While I'm all for Kyosuke x KuroNeko end, in fact I love it, I do have some worry on potential Minami comebacks.

To me Kuroneko end is the most reasonable one. After all she is arguably the most developed character in the series, even more so than Kirino or even Kyosuke himself. In addition, the relationship is slowly built up. However I can still see a Minami comeback if Kyosuke is still serious about his "normal" life claims and hopes. Like winkel says Ayase is pretty much out of it after the Kirino event and stay there after the "untold" event that cause her to place Kyosuke on no-contact list. But Kyosuke's fixation on her look could still warrant a comeback as well, albeit a very long shot.

However if the series ends in a book or so, I have to say that Saori as a character would be vastly under-utilized. In fact her revealing her real life-self seem pointless and probably should be place in the possible spin-off instead.

Either way, Kuroneko end seems pretty solid now but I still got the scars from Ichigo 100% with Kawashita somehow makes Nishino overthrew Toujou as winner despise Toujou being the series main female lead based on usual manga wisdom...

I do want to ask those that has already read it, did the author mention anything about need book being the last in postface? they usually tell you if next volume is going to be the last.

From what I see in the afterwords, the author only mentioned that V8 will be focusing on romance in the later half of the summer holiday, which means V8 won't be the end yet. And I'm quite curious about what Kuroneko spoke with Kirino that made them make up before Kuroneko's confession.

Don't usually read those, but glancing through it, she talks about the PSP game (she wrote the Ayase and Kanako route for the game) and mentions how Vol 8 will be the climax of the love arc.

@winkel: Kirino wont be that easy allowing Kuroneko to have Kyousuke, and it's only a talk on the phone, Kirino is not that easy. though it maybe about their feelings, or maybe Kuroneko admit her feeling to Kirino.

Yea, the way he said "arc" shows that he is planning more for the series. As far as I can tell when an author likes writing a series and the series is popular, it's going to last a while.

I still don't think the series will last too long. If 8 is the end of "love arc" than I say maybe 2-3 books after that at most, after all Kyosuke is already in his 3rd year and with the way these school-love comedies go, graduation is usually the time limit. And since the series is told from Kyosuke's POV, it would be kind of weird to continues the story into his college years. So unless the author REALLY slows down the pace of the series I still say the series will most like ends in 3 maybe 4 more books.


Besides, the longer the series drags on, the more....
