If he loves any of the girls its probably Asuna. But one person we can be sure that he loves is his father. |

In Euchre if you have the 5 highest cards meaning that you can't be beat, than its known as a lay down as the person will simply laydown his cards. |

I was so right That chapter was full of win EPIC Negi's really this idiot's son. And Kojirou did his job in helping him. One Piece and Negima are so GREAT since a few chapters *happy* But I am still not sure that Negi will win Rakan might actually win but admit that Negi is now a man. At least, Negi gives everything he had. So, No regret. |

That's actually a good thing. It proves that Negi is not a mere carbon copy of his father. |

The thing is that, considering the nature of the manga and the actual context of the plot right now, the "power up" was not only a mandatory but logical as well.
That is to say, the good thing is that it is still about the intelligent use of magic and tactis, instead of stupid "the louder I yell, the STRONGER I am!" shounen power scale crap. As far as I'm really not a shounen lover, Akamatsu managed to stick with a bearable sense of logic and consistency with his own magic meta world and power scale, which is a feat considering how these easely can turn out of control and the fact it is his first and only shounen he has drawn.

Akamatsu keeps the power-ups believable, he has a good balance of the various aspects of the series (school life, romantic comedy, fighting, plot), and he explains everything that happens, so you don't end up thinking its some deus ex machina thing. This is a lot different from those other series that are just fight after fight after fight with little in the way of plot development.
And as they've mentioned time and again throughout the series (Evangeline especially likes saying this) what Negi lacks that his father and Asuna have is Stupidity. In this case it's a good thing. No one with any amount of stupidity could have pulled that whole "my 5 trump cards were really just one giant trump card" thing off. If you can't beat Rakan with brute strength, beat him with strategy. Surprised the chapter came early again this week. Is it being released on Tuesdays now instead of Wednesdays? |

Using the opponent's specialty against himself is nowhere a power scale matter. It is plainly a trick that allows to use other means than mere "brute force". Even Negi himself says that his power alone wouldn't be enough, so he basically confronted Rakan against his own powerhouse output.

At first, I thought that Negi will not be able to actually change the past, because even before to turn back the clock, there were already the other Negis all over the place. Well, I admit I didn't really understand that part of the story |

Negi turned Super Saiyan 3!!
But, I do agree that Negima isn't just power-ups. Rather, I think it's more of character specialties, like in an SRPG. That's where all the other classmates come in; this may be a 2v2 tournament, but in the real fight, everyone will participate. I was reminded of Melty Blood while reading this, with all the trump cards. |

My big question is, what happened to that big ass spear spell of his? Did he absorb it together with Rakan's blast? I hope he doesn't pull that "pop up behind you for a zero range release" again. |
