Maybe I am just remembering such deranged events as the TNG/X-Men crossover series. |

Given all this, it's reasonable to assume that Rabbit Team stood a chance of being swept away had they been abandoned. But I suppose that would be another delusion and or speculation.

Well, given Star Trek, you might wind up with 24 century girls running holodeck simulation of ship squadron combat as they practice Picard Maneuver while shouting tally-ho, and then freak temporal distortion happened, dragging the legendary Yukari to their world...
because it's Star Trek.

Moreover it's necessary for KMM to be strong with a fatal weakness exemplified by the character differences between Miho and her mother, otherwise the victory would not be meaningful story wise. Again, this is what the story tells us in the aftermath, taking the time to have Maho and even her Mother acknowledge Miho's strength. If the fault had been KMM's weakness they should have focused on blaming their training, tactics, and Maho. Note how the story spends more time on the family reconciliation, than the victory parade which is in literal response to the supposed big threat (closing the school). The victory parade itself is characterized a a celebration of a sport teams's accomplishment, not as a town thankful that their entire lives will not suffer complete upheaval. I guess at this point there's not much that my perspective is going to offer to have you re-evaluate your view of the show so I guess I should let it drop. I just don't understand what an insistance on treating every scene with Evangelical literalism actually buys you? What is the advantage? It seems you have to construct complicated scenarios to explain them and they no longer match up with the dramatic narrative structure, which by the way is also part of the visual evidence.

In Star Trek? Naw, they would get an odd look and that would be it.
They have people going in to play out things ranging form Beowulf, to Shakespeare, to the Alamo, to the Battle of Britain, to 1940s detective novels, to fantasy neo-porn, or life simulators.

People already use holodecks and holosuites for porn, after all. The only restriction seems to be "if you try to make it of a real person, accept that that real person might get really pissed at you." Girls with miniskirts driving tanks? People might think you're strange for coming up with the idea, but I am absolutely certain it would not be seen as perverted, compared to many of the scenarios Quark offers for his holosuites.

Also, Nishizumi is actually a Starfleet captain of the Steamrunner-class, USS Dreamriser, who was comissioned in 2410 into Task Force Seven. And [Girls und Panzer] was a holonovel that Pion made using her ship and crew as inspiration. In the Prime universe, the actual crew lent their voices to Enter Enter Mission, and a song about what's their favorite WW2 tank, as well as the characters based on them and their duty officers. However, due to a temporal distortion, the crew got transported to the 21st century, and in the chaos messed up the plans of a studio in another dimension who were also making Girls und Panzer. Like Starfleet officers, they worked to repair the timeline and complete the missing 2 episodes of GuP before returning to the 25th century. This is the story of the making of Episodes 11 and 12. True story.

The linkages are fairly easy, though with some of the nation-blending in Battletech you'd have to break some Houses into smaller groupings. Saunders gets more Syrtis March-flavored units while St. Gloriana is more regular House Davion, for one. Kuromorimine this year went for classic Pravda would be running all Vindicators but maybe have a Stalker thrown onto the pile. Chihatan school is solid Panthers? This would leave Oarai as a former-SLDF merc unit that's not had a lot of good contracts lately. (This hurts my head far less than the GuP/TNG crossover.) |
