God Funimation buying Love Hina from Bandai. Funiamtion is REALLY starting to piss me off. They're becomming a moopoly of Akamatsu animes. That's just NOT right. Now that Geneon has gone belly up i fear it's only a matter of time before they get Mao-chan..... that last remaining Akamatsu based anime not in the grasp of Funimation.

Lol!
You know this doesn't make any sense!
You hate Funi because they bought Love Hina? Maybe you should hate Bandai for selling it? Maybe you should have Akamatsu for allowing Funi to buy it? But hate Funi because they bought Love Hina?

Anything wrong with this? since 2005 Funimation has been systematically targeting Akamatsu based anime, trying to get the exclusive rights to them. 1st Negima, then Isudantte my Santa, then "stealing" Love Hina, then Negima!? (God WHY did they even consider this when it was so horrible!) and i fear that Mao-chan will be next. And it's not only that but Funimation didn't do a good job with Negima's dubbing and they screwed up several of the phrases too. (Baka rangers to Dummy Squad for one)

I'd rather see them done by several other companies.

"Dummy Squad"? Well, I am pretty sure they are trying to bring out the humour in the phrase, "Baka Rangers". "Dummy Squad" did make me laugh, but it's just.. rather demeaning xD
When it comes down to it, reading the manga is the better choice. There are just too many things that are not covered in the anime..

Well, its usually a mistake to listen to most dubs anyway.... though I'll admit "dummy squad" is really lame..... "Idiot Rangers" or "Idiot Team" would have been a bit more on target. And yes, at this point -- just sticking with the manga is probably best since every adaptation to screen has been a storyline failure in some regard (speaking of both Love Hina and Negima here). Love Hina is at least watchable though.

I suppose this means we'll get a new collection opportunity for those fans who missed the last run of Love Hina collections.

I actually just finished the manga the other day, funny someone would bump this thread.

Kanako was by far the funniest character with her ventriloquism act.

What "what about"??? Are you asking a question?

If you buy the Perfect Collection it does include the OVAs. I assume Funimation's more recent release also has them but all you have to do is check out the contents to see.

The Perfect Collection is the one released by Bandai in 2004.... and holy shit, the Amazon partner seller wants $765 for it new and another wants $169.95 for it used. I'd better take better care of mine O.o

In a stroke of idiocy, Funimation seems to only have picked up the license for the 25 episodes of the regular seasons if I can believe the fine print. Wow....
So unless someone can verify otherwise, it doesn't appear the Funimation version includes the OVAs.

On Ebay, prices vary wildly but bids are in progress:

There's no justification for anything to *ever* go "out of print" anymore... or worse, be lost. And another reason material should enter the public domain after a reasonable period (<20yrs) so it can be protected for all. This is one of the few cases where I'd recommend the "back alleys" of DVD rips.

You can only drag 'hit the dork into the clouds' so many episodes.
