Overall, I'm pretty happy with both voice casts.
The Seiyu all have voices that are very pronounced, solidly emoted, and distinctive from one another... which, honestly, is not something I've picked up on in most of the sub anime that I've watched. The English voice actors tend to capture the feel and tone of the characters. Wendee Lee also can convey good charisma for a character like Haruhi. One thing I'm very interested in hearing and seeing, though, is how Wendee Lee and Crispin Freeman handle the Haruhi/Kyon argument & punch throwing scene in Sighs part 4. I've personally never heard Lee in a scene that intense and with that strong a mixture of anger/sadness for a character that she's playing. It'll be interesting to see if she can pull it off or not.

Same with Haruhi (Aya Hirano), Tsuruya (Yuki Matsuoka), and Yuki (Minoru Chihara). Mikuru's VA (Stephanie Sheh) sounds pretty much exactly how Yuko Gotou would sound in English minus the engrish, so I couldn't really tell you who I'm hearing there, but with Itsuki it's a little odd. For the long expository (bullshit) sessions, I hear Johnny Yong Bosch, but for the little asides and more "flamboyant" lines I hear Daisuke Ono. This is not to diminish the skills of either cast. Both are made up of the best of the best.

Haruhi has one of the best dubs I've ever heard in my life. Just about everyone has a very voice, and the acting is very well done. The only iffy voice for me is Tsuruya's, but even then it's not unbearable or anything. I'd love to see what they do for season two.
Hello everyone, by the way . |

In the Haruhi-chan manga, they take it that extra step. Itsuki is essentially the "Red Ranger" from Haruhi's mental image of Closed Space. You see a tiny hint of that in the animated version of Haurhi-chan...with the on stage performance at the mall Haruhi and Yuki are so into.

Hey ya'll.
I'm working on a paper involving Suzumiya Haruhi at present and I need some hard sales figures for Suzumiya Haruhi DVDs in North America. Do these exist? Can someone please dig them up for me? And if you guys have any more information on the ASOSbrigade viral marketing (or fan-marketing, whatever you want to call it) stuff that I apparently completely missed in my initial run, I'd be very greatful. Similarly, Kadokawa's approach to fan-based participatory media, etc. Cheers. |

(You should, because you live in Canada.) Anyways, back on topic, I like the Suzumiya Haruhi dub and I think that Wendee Lee is a talented voice actress, well she did a good job in the Haruhi dub IMO. |
