I'll be grabbing them too
Really want to preorder the limited edition of S2, but not sure if I'll be away during the period the package would reach the UK from TRSI, and I don't want it to get eaten by the postal system I'll either watch them on my PC, dependant on whether I can run them on PDVD8 (as thats really easy to defeat the software region protection on), if not I'll rip them as raw files to my drive and burn them back without

There are some great GKs that need a legitimate release.

A official art book after a long silence
Quotation from a mail magazine Collected Paintings of Juu Ayakura - Spice and Wolf "Spice and Wolf" is completed at last by the vol. 17 that will be released on July 10. And illustrator Juu Ayakura's first collection of paintings is released at last! To say nothing of all the covers of 17 volumes, frontispieces, and cut-in illustrations, there are 400 or more illustrations which Juu Ayakura has drawn, such as a poster illustration, anime / game illustrations. It is the superluxurious collection of paintings which covered all them! All Holo reaches to you. Furthermore, the newly-written short novel by Isuna Hasekura is due to be included, too. If you are a fan, it is one that cannot be missed. Release day: July 30 Price: 2940YEN Soft cover, A4 size, 204 pages I am interested in the story of the novel written after Vol.17 rather than the collection of illustrations. Incidentally, all members (Norah, Diana, and Eve) seem to gather in Vol.17. |

To be fair, probably the best part of 100+ pages of drawings is pretty enticing too; I don't need any Japanese capability to like those
Only downside is I doubt, if I can find a copy, that it'll be anything like 2940 Yen equiv, probably at least double

Possible fail by funimation...
This image is supposed to be of the Season II Limited Edition. Notice it DOES NOT SAY anything about II (as opposed to the regular Spice and Wolf II). *SIGH* Come on funimation... straighten up and fly right!

I've heard speculation that the box may be big enough to hold season 1's disks as well as season 2's disks. If so, that would explain why there's no season number on the outside. Of course, this is guess-work only until the boxes start shipping and someone can confirm/repudiate the speculation.

It does seem a bit thick. So, if that is the case, I would be willing to accept that reason/justification! Thanks for the info!

They've done bumper card cases with other series; so if it's a protective disc case, that would make a lot of sense, plus it looks a lot like a book which reflects the source quite well.
Personally I think it looks quite nice too; I think the rerelease of Season 1, and also the covers I'm seeing for the S2 releases look better than the original S1 release; and more inline with the nature of the show. The picture on the spine was used on the rerelease DVD of S1; so if this is S1 Bluray, or a 'complete collection' case, it'd make more sense than a lone S2 one. Rajura - you'd be happy to know both my younger brothers are now also rather fond of S&W

Juu Ayakura's art book will be released on July 30.
The illustration of this cover is a super-spoiler as well as the cover of Vol.17 of a novel. If you plan to buy it, please place an order without seeing a thumbnail picture. Spoiler for art book cover:

I can not say anything about an ending until Vol.17 is released.
Although it is difficult, if you do not want to spoil the interest to a story, please try to avoid the cover illustration of an art book and Vol.17. Here is the advertisement of an art book and a novel. It is safe even if you look at the picture, since the mosaic is applied. |

Still, the non-spoiler paraphernalia is all so gorgeous, so that will tide me over. I wish there was more artwork, official and fan-based. All the "artbooks" I've found so far have been more like "series guides" that show the "making of" drawings, from line model to finished work. I don't hate those, but I prefer just a plain artbooks with complete pictures rather than concept work. |
