I'm having trouble with the logic of what our JP manga readers are spoiling ... meh.

It doesn't make sense to wipe Karin but not Kenta. What is the purpose? Can't be erased? Why not? What about all of Karin's friends?
This is on a scale of Agent K's solution in the first MiB. That's a LOT of wiping.

It would make more sense for Karin's parents to erase Karin from their minds so they won't have to grieve over her mortality. Anju seems to be willing to tolerate Karin's mortality for the sake of remembering her.

Sorry, I'm wondering if some of the readers perhaps mistranslated ambiguous sentences? Its incredibly easy with japanese tendencies of nounless sentences. Unfortunately, I can't do more than scratch my head because I'm not planning to read the JP version, so I'll just have to wait for the EN version to see what the fuss is about.

Edit: I went back and read Freeter's spoilers. They make a hell of a lot more sense to me and I suspect his translation summary is the correct one if only because it logically makes more sense to me at the moment.

Even if you didn't know Japanese, it'd still be pretty obvious.

Yes, I know the ending doesn't make sense in some ways. I believe Karin's family wanted KARIN to be happy, which is why they erased her memory (now I guess they could have done the opposite and erased their own memories, but Karin wouldn't be very happy, now would she?).

Also, they couldn't erase Kenta's memories because they couldn't do it without erasing his memory clean of everything (because he already knows too much).

What I think makes less sense than Karin's memory getting erased is the fact that Kenta kissing her got rid of her nosebleeds/vampiric urges completely...
I'm not really getting that, unless something Sophia said I read wrong or she explained it somewhere and I didn't get it.

That isn't really fair Vexx to say this and a lot don't have satisfying endings. Maybe not to you, but otheers it may be very satisfying. I think before a story should be called unsatisfying, it should also be mentioned in your opinion.

But on this one, it is like..wtf, so yeah.

Eh well, cut him some slack, aren't most things we write here basically our opinion? You wouldn't want to preface everything with "IMO", we'd never get to the meat of the topic that way.

I'm not too happy about this ending either, although I never did have high expectations for this manga despite liking it quite a bit. But then I'm a sucker for vampire stories.

Actually, I do try to preface remarks that are subjective with "imo". In this case though, what I'm saying is pretty clearly that such endings are less satisfying (for me).

... Kind of Japanese-ish, where the noun is understood or implicit in many sentences from context.

It wasn't the plot I was so fascinated with in this story, interesting but not life-changing .... but the author's *drawings* are just mesmerizing. I love the artwork.

Hmm, I actually like the ending to this manga (at least compared to other manga I've read, this ending actually doesn't suck).

Sure, it was a little on the cliche side with Kenta x Karin and them having a kid at the end, but the fact that Karin got her memory erased makes it a little more satisfying to me for some reason.

Kinda wish they would have showed their faces in the last timeskip, though (they only showed Anju's back/bottom of her face and half of Karin's face and Kenta didn't even show up, lol).

Just picked up and read the English version of Volume 7. Actually, I really liked almost all aspects of it (too bad the anime couldn't cover more of this stuff but ah well). I think the only part that annoyed me was Karin's dad behavior at some points --- cliche understandable but still kind of a cardboard cutout.

Kenta's mom gets a lot of character points in this volume and lots of glorious pics of Karin in all her unhinged emotional rollercoastering.

Anju, Ren, and Karin's mom come off quite bit more complex as well over the last couple of volumes.

Also, on Yuna Kagesaki's blog, she said she was doing two more special chapters for Karin after the ending that will be printed in the May and June of 2008 issues of Dragon AGE magazine.

One will be about Maki (which will be in the May issue, released next week) and the other she didn't say what it would be about, but it will be related to Karin in some way (an afterstory, maybe? lol, I can dream). And that one will be in the June issue, released in May.

And I was right, they did stick a little epilogue thing in the very end of volume 14.

It's not plot-relevant or anything, just a small bonus chapter. It's 2028. It starts off with Kanon trying to give Kenta "a kiss between father and daughter" ( ), and Karin has to drag her off to stop her. They make some random talk, and Karin comments on how Kanon has such a father complex. It ends with Karin finishing breakfast and Kanon waking up Kenta so they can eat.

Oh, did you also see the other omake about Sophia explaining why the men in Kenta's family have scary eyes?

I found it really funny when she begged Kenta to have a girl so she wouldn't be reincarnated as a scary guy, and Kenta's like... "HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT?!"

Luckily, it worked out in the end.
