I didn't like this ending in the VN but it was still nice to see it as an anime. Nothing really special though.

I would have rather make them one of the bed ends, or anime original ending where Gilgamesh wins or something.

Nah, it's shirou harem ending.
(You need to waste some points in Saber to get it instead of focusing in Rin to get True ending)

And if my memory is right, Rin didn't even need to make another pact with her in VN, just need extra mana from Shirou

She gets to fuck Shirou in orde to obtain mana(at least she implied that) while Saber belongs to her(who knows, at some point Saber might join them just to obtain mana in a even more direct way). At this point she is the alpha one out of the three, thus, I still belive its her harem route

Though viewing it by the game way of obtaining finals(I havent played it) I guess it is his route as you said.

Technically I think its normal end/true end but the majority of episode 25 was original.

Rin sort of ends up with a harem either way; Rin and Archer's goodbye only happens in the true end route.

Indeed. The anime was the "true end" and this special was the "good end".

No, it happens in both ends. Until that point is route identical. Only difference is just one little line added into scene after Saber uses Excalibur, which is here represented by scene with running Rin. Otherwise ending of episode 24 is exactly that point where route split. Different is just epilogue. Basically we can say that this is alternate episode 25.

Isn't Rin generally portrayed as submissive in her love scenes? And even if she teases the heck out of Shirou in their daily life, he's the one embarrassing her in most of their more serious interactions (his confession, the Lancer thing, etc.)

Not that it matters because SSSSSSSAAAAAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
