Thanks for the nice comments. I do have to say, though, that if current production trends continue, I'm less and less likely to be in the anime audience. Economic retrenchment in the anime industry and in the general worldwide economy will continue to put pressure on studios to avoid more experimental shows and ones oriented to non-otaku Japanese viewers. I don't see more than two or three series in the current season that I have much interest in viewing, which was my experience in the season just ending as well. That number was never very high, but it was more like five or six series per season just a year or so ago.

Aye, I have to agree its getting easier and easier for me to say, "no, not investing my time in this one." Especially when I have 2 or 3 series in the vault that match it (or more frequently recently - are *better* at it than the new series is).

The last two seasons have been pretty slim in worthwhile pickings, though the ones I've kept were fairly jewel-like. I keep trying though because occasionally there's another jewel. But when "times are tough", studios find it safer to "shampoo, rinse, repeat" than to try something different --- and unfortunately, the hardcore otaku in Japan have a tendency to really punish anything outside their predictable safety bubble.

aye, but only if you flip the switch for it. Yours isn't showing at the time of this post, for example.

These polls are more interesting if everyone participates because it gives you a better feel for the audience that makes up AS. There are a lot more adults here than someone unfamiliar with the anime fandom might have guessed, for example.
