Finally, digested all of vol.21, here is summary:

Spoiler:

Star of Bethlehem is a giant ceremonial ground to restore the elemental balance. It is a castle made of all the holy items from churches and cathedrals around the planet. The star naturally sucks in all the parts it need to construct itself and regenerate itself if damaged. Yes, Touma tried to destroy it with his right hand, but the damage is quickly undone. It looks like a giant fortress with four bridges extending out in four different directions, with the the bridge on the left being especially long.

Gabriel summoned by Fiamma is still incomplete, her wings randomly breaks apart when she moves them. Fiamma needs Gabriel to use Astro in Hand to create a starless night. To complete his ceremony, no other stars can be in the sky but Star of Bethlehem.

The goat skin that Accelerator has actually records the information of the arch angels. Even Index does not have all the information of all four arch angels. Fiamma knows Michael very well, but he still needs the knowledge on the other three in order to restore the elemental balance. This is why he needs the Orthodox, to get their secret goat skin that contained all the angelic information.

To restore the elemental balance is to serve only one purpose: to let Fiamma properly use the power of Holy Right. Fiamma can't properly channel his power if the four element is out of balance. Like Vent has done it before, she is be able to control water due to how water and wind are associated in biblical lore, this actually apply to all elements. All elements can influence one another, and ultimately you can control all element even you master only one if you know the way. Fiamma plan to control all the element with his Holy Right, but this is impossible if the elements remain out of balance.
So Fiamma went through all the trouble to restore the balance. Star of Bethlehem is a planetarium that properly represent the correct constellation of the stars that represent the four elements and return the elements to their proper position. After the balance is restored, Fiamma gets another power up.

Random notes:

Acclerator's power is effective against Fuse=Kazakiri but partially effective against Gabriel, but completely useless in front of Sweep.
Gabriel, as the messenger of god that deliver the message to Mary, has the power to manipulate 6th sense and premonitions. In other words only physical senses are effective against her.
The pope is such a holy man indeed.
Hamatzura was separated from Rikou when Mugino appeared. Rikou is not fully cured either. Elizarina managed to remove the Taishou that was in Rikou's body, but she can not heal the body tissues that are already corrupted. But, at least, Rikou's life is in no immediate danger.

Coincidentally, I have just finished reading vol. 21 as well. Here are some thoughts:

Spoiler for vol. 21:

Kind of underwhelming. It feels like a lot has happened, but at the same time it feels like there wasn't much progress, since it has like bits and pieces of everything. But that's probably because this only contains half of what this volume had initially.

The parts that I liked most are the parts with Hamazura (especially the part where he told Aqua to stand up), the Pope entering the Vatican, and the fight between Gabriel, Accel and Hyouka. Other than those, Touma and Accelerator's parts were mostly boring.

And lol @ Mikoto STILL not doing anything useful, and STILL only appearing in the prologue/epilogue and the "Between the Lines". Heck, even random soldiers got more lines than her.

Hope Kamachi doesn't disappoint with vol. 22.

The Pope:

The Pope was heading for the Vatican, walking through the streets of Rome where the people were about to riot. He was able to calm everyone in his path down without the use of force or any magic. Even the Church's agents who were sent into the crowd to start the riot and maintain it at a certain level wouldn't dare to disrupt the flow created by the Pope.

After the Pope entered the Basilica, the Cardinal (who was aiming for the Pope's seat) was scared that the Pope would disrupt his plans, but the Pope basically said "Don't worry, I'm not here to stop you. You did good while I was gone. I will support you as the next Pope. All I need is the knowledge from the underground library to looks for a way to stop Fiamma" (not the exact words, of course).



The fight between Gabriel, Hyouka and Accel:

Hyouka and Gabriel were heading towards Accel while fighting, because Gabriel "smelled" the presence of the sheep skin document that Accel had and wanted retrieve it.

Accel jumped right into the middle of their fight, taking on both angel's attacks. After noticing that Hyouka's attack can be reflected while Gabriel's attack cannot be be reflected normally, he decided to focus on Gabriel first. He then reflected Hyouka's attack towards Gabriel, scoring a hit.

After a bit of talking between Accel and Hyouka, some self reassurance from Accel, and some preparation from Gabriel, the first Sweep was unleashed. It's an attack that rains down tens of millions of shards in an area of 2km radius. Accel sustained quite a bit of damage as Gabriel prepares for the second Sweep.

After Aqua and Touma's interference, and Accel + Hyouka's attacks, Gabriel eventually lost its form and was about to explode. Accel knew that his ability couldn't defend against the "energy" from the explosion, so once again, he reflected Hyouka's attack towards the explosion to create a barrier.

I suspected something like Gabriel and Hyouka heading towards Accelerator but didn't expect both of them attacked him XD.

BTW, Fiamma said Touma is the last piece for his plan so even if he develops his Holy Right at full power his plan won't end.

Holy right is yet to be at full power since Fiamma himself states that he needs all the three ingredients to complete this power.

Yeah, I know about the second p.u. but how Fiamma did to get the Kremlin report? Also, has Fiamma mastered the four elements with it?

I can only hope a backslash on Fiamma for the next volume something like:

Touma: Who knows? Maybe Bad Luck?

What do you expect. It's not like she could help. If she tried to get in the current fight she would just get in the way and ended up as a burden or dead and mikoto fans would kill the author if she died she should stay low and stay with the end lines per chapter.

Fianmma is getting overly sick strong. I wonder how can touma match up to him.

Wow, that's amazing. Just last September the series was at 5.3 million. 4.5 million copes sold in a year!? Mind fucking blown. I doubt we'll get 51 episodes but man would I be hopping up and down if we did.

And what other novels have sold that many? Index has been blowing Shana and ZnT out of the water in recent sales and the only series that sale more than Index this year are DRRR!!! and Baka to Test, but I'm not sure if Index surpasses Shana and ZnT's lifetime sales. Anyone have numbers on those? Also, how many novels has Haruhi sold in it's lifetime?

EDIT: Oh wait, I just read those websites Plant42 posted, and they seem to have Shana's numbers and some others.
