Well, this is the internet. Copyrights are hard, if not impossible, to implement because everything is treated as mere computer files which can be reproduced, converted and manipulated in any way possible.

@my previous post

First of all, anime is not like air and water.
Okay, I made a bad analogy there. :P

Secondly, CR is hardly profiting let alone profiteering from this.
Thirdly, most of the profits goes back to the licensors themselves.
The problem right now is, the profits can only go from Region 1's and a select few from the other regions (if they can avail of the Region 1 anime as a Premium Subscriber).

Fourthly, regarding quality differences: Unfortunately the meme about CR sub quality has been spread mostly by willing ignorance. Yes, I have encountered a couple typos here and there and occasional particle, singular/plural mixups, etc. which btw, you can report via an issue report button on each episode. But I can also give you specific instances for a show translated by CR and the same show translated by an extremely reputable group where the group has flat-out wrong translations. Of course the vast majority of the time it's correct but I'm simply pointing out the fallacy in praising a group's subs (when they do their own TL) and putting down CR subs when they don't realize the mistakes in the group's subs.
Hey, both parties, the fansubbers and CR subbers both do not do this for money. But fansubbers at least give better-looking fonts to their works. Why can't CR do the same? Are they sacrificing better-looking subs to being updated?

And the biggest problem here is, Crunchyroll complies with the stupid Region Codes. Because of this, I can't watch legal anime online. I'm from SE Asia, making me a Region 3. I do not trust online transactions in any form that's why I opt instead for bootleg copies most of the time. It's wrong, I know, but it's better than to sacrifice having misused my identification details over the Internet.

Point me to a flash implementation with real typesetting possibilities. Hulu doesn't have it. Niconico douga doesn't have it. Youtube doesn't have it. (Their softsubs do not support any typesetting.) Kadokawa's former attempt had a very bare bones things. CR at least supports some minor typesetting which is better than nothing.

and no, the license isn't "real" in my view, because streaming isn't a valid release method,

It's worth noting that CR has picked it up on AS, for the people who can and want to use the streams, but it's not nearly as valid as a real license which means DVDs will be coming out eventually.
Except the digital rights license is a legitimate license that CR is paying far. It just isn't a home video license which is what the old definition of "licensed" was. It is still a license that is of value.

See Nogizaka season 2 for an example of such.

CR isn't for money? CR is entirely for profit. Also, see the above regarding flash video and soft text typesetting.

No, CR doesn't. CR is entirely country based region locks. What usually happens is a company will offer based on DVD regions because thats how the problems show up. Some other company in a region is interested in a show so they won't license it to that region. But you have other examples where random European countries are allowed and all of europe is the same region. The same is true for random SE Asia countries.

You do realize that most bootleggers at this point just copy files (fansubs, dvd rips) off the internet and sell them right? You are basically paying for the same files that are on the internet.

I have heard of both of okay and horrid stories of CR, but imo I think the fans should really step back and ask -- is getting the episode ASAP that important or better of wait for the quality product -- be that a real licensed quality made DVD or a good fansub group.

I have a lot of anime downloaded and so I got DVD, and I found myself to be "ahead" that I have stuff I have not even watched yet. I do understand to urge to view the newer shows, and I myself watch the new season stuff so are the older stuff that I still get backlogged. But the issue to have something to watch is never a problem, and I am willing to wait for a quality subtitling or simply watch the raw. The underline is I am not be a CR customer and do not plan to be one, but I am more willing to pay for a DVD many times more expensive.

All business is out there to make money. Even NPOs need to make sure they do not lose money (and then spend the "profit" on charity work). >_> This aren't no Union of Anime Socialist Republics :P
