Comedy Gender Bender Romance School Shounen

This manga based on the ever popular AKB48 group.

This series is about a guy called Urakawa Minoru crossdressing as a girl to participate in a female idol group audition (akb48). The main objective is to help the girl he likes, Yoshinaga Hiroko, pass the audition. Yoshinaga Hiroko's dream is to become like her favourite idol who is in the akb48 group. This audition happens to be her final try, so Minoru crossdresses as Minori and took part in the audition to make sure she realizes her dream. Hiroko got qualified eventually, however, the shocking news was Minoru was qualified as well. Thus, the road to becoming a female idol begins...

Oh I like Takamina too

but I also like that cool girl in the main AKB group

This manga is quite good, but it's hard to distinguish each character when they're not talking

I mean, all of them looks similar

In its own way, does idol idealism well with some poking at itself/others while maintaining heavy references in and out of the franchise throughout.

Soft spot for Maeda here. Minori-cchi is also great.

Definitely was unexpectedly drawn to the manga. The main character is very motivated, and his desire to help his love interest is rather touching.

you say its touching but I think its kind of creepy and perverted lol.

Vol 5 just came out in Japan. It's a surprisingly good manga though and quite amusing. It's a lot more serious about idols than you'd expect. The actual AKB48 members are written a bit like caricatures but it's roughly what their image is like. No Nakayan sucks though, she should be in the mnaga too.

It is actually a pretty interesting manga, though the portrayal of actual AKB members seems a bit weird for for me, image-wise as Shouta says. I still has hard time adapting to a cool, badass Atsusko or the cute, super loli Minami.

Pretty good manga sales for the sixth volume.

*4, *84,652 *84,652 Peacemaker vol.8

12, *43,092 *43,092 AKB49 - Renai Kinshi Jourei vol.6 Special Edition

Would've taken 4th spot if you could combine the two versions. Hopefully this bodes well for a future anime adaption of this manga.

Yeah, forget about the monster series, usually if you can sell over 50,000, you're a success and will be able to stay around. The sale is not bad at all.

Spoiler for my impressions: I'm not a fan of gender bender but it sounded interesting and I got hooked into it. I'm not familiar with the idol group but I heard they are portrayed real well in the manga compared to the real ones. My favorite so far is Takamina. __________________
