It definitely is what they're doing. This is evident by the fact that they sign actors for 4-6 movies at a time. And I definitely like what they do with the blended universe. Makes the movies feel greater than the sum of their parts.

DC seems to be doing more cartoons than Marvel (aside from the anime I mean).

This leaves me with two observations:

1) DC Comics is really getting left behind in Marvel's dust.

2) Part of me misses the days of Robocop, Terminator, Rambo, Rocky, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars. In other words, Hollywood doesn't seem to be producing Hollywood-Original Sci-fi/Action movie series anymore. And it seems obvious to me that them milking comic book franchises (and Transformers) for all their worth is the main reason why...

It's simply karma. Comic Book fans were treated as a blight years ago, now they have taken over everything! Mwahahahahaha!

Marvel has DC beat with Movies but when it comes to the Animation front DC has Marvel beat in spades.

Best Comic Book Movie Ever.

Dark Knight was the best "film based on comic book" ever, whereas Avengers was the best "comic book movie" ever.

Just my opinion.

Batman. End of debate.

No one, and I mean no one, can beat Batman in either universes.

That being said, it's my feeling that the Marvelverse is in general more movie-friendly than the DCverse. DC tends to put forth massive superpower heros who can basically take on hordes of powered-up goons while defeating a planet, while Marvel has relatively powered-down superheros.

The Avengers, Thor and Fantastic 4 movies disagree with you on that.

Also aside from the Green Lantern and the watchmen movie, i haven't seen any DC movie characters on planetary level.

Well, between JLA and Avengers, JLA does seem to have more cosmic level heroes tbh.

Guardians of Galaxy would be a better match for JLA as far as power level goes.
Which, btw, also got announced for a live action film. No Adam Warlock though.

I think you're confusing physical planets with planetary power. Superman, Captain Marvel, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, and others from DC are all ridiculously powerful to the point of being able to break worlds, break reality itself, etc.

The silver age superman yes, but not the modern age. He is much weaker and he isnt capable of planetary feats. The movie adaptations seems to be more like the modern age version, eventhough flying really fast around the world and turning back time is more like a silver age superman feat.
Green lantern isn't allowed to use deadly force without authorization, seing that the ring will deactivate itself before doing so. Even so lots of green lanterns have the "Yellow weakness" (or in the original case. it was wood ) as well. But i already mentioned that he and dr manhattan from watchmen (maybe even cosmic level on his case, but he never displayed it) are capable of planetary feats.
Wonder women is physical weaker than superman.
Flash has not appeared in any movies yet.
Jonah Hex isn't even supposed to have powers in the comics and even with his "making dead people temporary alive" powers, he is still mostly human.

It's less about being lazy, and more about available finances. I'll get to seeing it, eventually, hopefully before it leaves the theaters for good.

That would have been a great fit. Finding a suitable actor to play him is going to be tough. So many of the candidates are either too old or don't have the frame to succeed in the role.

But Comic book fans haven't taken over anything.

People might be going to see comic book character based movies, but they're not actually following the comics. I'm not that confident that these movies are going to make reading Marvel comics a mainstream thing. Only the characters.

Recent news has been released indicating that Scarlet Johansson's Black Widow will play a large part in this film (which only makes sense). Since the Black Widow will probably never have a film of her own, this could be the pivotal film that fully establishes her as a character (origins, motivations, etc).

Additionally, 5 actress have been short-listed for a major role in the next film (Emilia Clarke ('Game of Thrones'), Jessica Brown-Findlay ('Downton Abbey'), Teresa Palmer ('The Sorcerer's Apprentice'), Imogen Poots ('Fright Night'), and Alison Brie ('Community'/'Mad Men')). Presumably, one of these actress will be playing SHIELD agent Sharon Carter, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
