2009 Annual Seiyu Awards
Hi,
I recently learned from Hitoshi Doi's seiyuu mailing list that there is a new category for the 2009 seiyuu awards. Namely, Overseas anime fans' choice. Which means, you're all (well, almost all) invited to vote on your favorite seiyuu! http://www.seiyuawards.jp/eng Please vote Kugimiya Rie Satsuki Yukino and Ohara Sayaka are two more good choices |

I hope this becomes big so that it will inspire more non-Japanese to train in the art of voice actor to work in the industry and/or take what was learned to their own country and spread it there.
One of the method that I know of was introduced in the of Kaijin Nijumenso no Musume where the voice actor will change their tones of voice and nuance to induce their feelings in just one word as in the mentioned example which was "Ojisama". |

I voted for Yūki Aoi as Kuhōin Murasaki in Kure-nai, not that I think it'll matter much. Here's the comment I submitted:
"I doubt there will be many (any?) other votes for Ms. Yūki, but her performance in Kure-nai was nearly flawless from beginning to end. Murasaki is a difficult character to voice, at times childish as befits her age, but occasionally conveying a maturity far beyond her years. Ms. Yūki managed to make this complex character very convincing. I'm hoping that you might read this comment and consider her for some type of debut or new talent award. I doubt she'll be getting many more votes from us overseas viewers. If I were to vote for a more mainstream seiyuu, it would be Kuwashima Houko, particularly for her work as Shurrei in Saiunkoku Monogatari, but also for some fine performances in shows like Dennou Coil."

Am I the only one who is tempted to vote more than once?
Anyway, the site doesn't seem to mention anything about the seiyuu we are supposed to vote performing particularly well this year. Should I vote for best performance this year or for whom I think is best overall? The translation seem kind of weird so maybe that's the problem. If it's just for the year off the top of my head I am torn between Kobayashi Sanae for her performance Hatenkou Yugi, Yūki Aoi for Kurenai, Endo Aya for Macross FRONTIER. Kawasumi Ayako for Nodame Cantabile and Fujiwara Keiji for Gundam 00. Maybe I will vote several times, albeit for different seiyuu.

Here's my vote and comment.
I wish they allowed vote for one male and one female, but since there's no choice I voted only Hiromi because sh'e still my most favourite character of all. If they allowed me to vote one more time then I would vote Soichiro Hoshi, he voiced Brera Sterne from Macross Frontier.

Voting for Nakahara Mai. Unlike some other fan-favorites, I can't recognize her the moment one of her characters opens their mouth to speak. Which didn't stop me from finding her name again and again when checking who did my favorite character in this and that show. And now she's involved in this, too.
Spoiler for Vote&comment:

Are you supposed to get a confirmation email because I didn't get one and I am wondering if my vote will be counted?

I voted for Sawashiro Miyuki for her standout performance as Shibasaki Asako in Library War. Not fated to be an idol, but her awesome ability more than makes up for that. Not that I really bother much with seiyuu idols.
Following with her role as Aoba Tsugumi in Kannagi, now that's a subtle nuance-filled performance that's pretty much perfect. I see the awards better off going to the idols though(Hirano, Noto, Inoue[Marina] and now Tomatsu) IMO. |

And I'd thought I'd seen enough of Nakahara's roles that I'd be able to easily recognise her, but she always sneaks up on me. |
