While the first banner of Signum&Hayate ooze family/friendship .. The 2nd one does not feel the same.. Its almost like you slaps 2 girls render on a BG..

Its a good banner on its own, mind you.. its just that if I'm judging I based on theme.. it fails because it didnt invoke any friendship feeling at all (nevermind family feeling). If I were to ask why, I would say their overall body posture. Take for instance Rhyel's banner (Sora no Iro) to us that know the story, both are love rivals yet, for someone who dont know those 2, their body posture indicate some closeness = thus friendship.

Harsh comment indeed, but I hope you consider this as a positive comment for your other banner.

Dammit, no PNG. I thought you guys could like spare a little bandwidth when it comes your own banner. But apparently not.

Random edit: Fixing this is taking longer than making this. LoL Whatever, was doing my Web Template anyways.

A tip for that one, and a few others. If you take advantage of the optional width you can really cut down the image size. I can't remember if PNG stored data for completely transparent bits, if it doesn't then you could theoretically cut down size even more by eliminating the background layer gradient and allowing that to be handled by the overlay in the browser itself.

Give me a HQ shot (ideally with a separate foreground and background layer) and I'd be happy to see what size I can squeeze out avoiding as much quality loss as possible.

Note that I don't have photoshop, but GIMP can handle .psd files (actually it can handle just about any image format you want to throw my way), I just can't vouch for any special effects. So I'd say any effects should be merged into a layer. Keep the actual gradient in a separate background layer and I'll see if it's possible to cut down size by eliminating it.

Transparent files are okay, if you can get them to work properly. Provided it works with the test page, I'm sure it will be accepted.

I would suggest trying it with the fonts and the position of the two words switched.

I'm going to tentatively say no, because we've not allowed them before. At the very least you should not rely on being able to include other text for the banner to work.

Don't worry, I appreciate the comments. I should've known better to rely on what's on the banner and not background knowledge to portray a theme. I just really liked that picture so that's why I used it. I still really want to use those two characters so I guess I'll find a screenshot from the series or something.

One possible reason due to which you're not fully satisfied with it could be the character color scheme which doesn't exactly fit into the background color scheme (either it's the blue hair or the red ribbon dunno...)

Well, I could alter the hair color, but it wouldn't be Kaname anymore...it IS altered already.
But the ribbon is a good idea, gotta try that.
