You see how the 3 Astray Girls in Gundam Seed died? That's what I call unnecessary deaths. I can see he's trying something like Zeta Gundam, or Victory Gundam, but the impact is nowhere near as good.

Operational time limit in itself is not an issue except for scouting units; It's the same reason why we don't need nuclear-powered tanks, but there IS a benefit for nuclear powered submarines. Tanks just need to operate long enough for a single battle, because the crew couldn't fight continuously anyway. While submarines can benefit under long operational time without refueling. You only really need limitless operating time if you expect the unit to operate without support for days or weeks. Unless you are a spy unit, that's rare.

Somewhere among the piles of technical things in Technology thread. Someone mentions that the main downside of the GN Tau Drives isn't from short time usage, since the Thrones were able to run around for 3 days while engaging combat here and there. The real downside is mentioned by Vallen Chaos Valiant above.

I believe the Tau drive require both electrical energy plus a catalyst for the Tau drive to operate, when both of these are exhausted the drive ceases operation.
when the electrical energy and catalyst levels are low the drive must enter a fuel conservation state giving the mobilesuit just enough energy to return to their mothership/base for refuelling I think it's stated somewhere that the use of Trans am permanently damages a tau drive requiring either replacement parts/maintainence or a completely new drive. |

i pefer endings in anime not to be too happy or too sad, just the right balance in between. I hate those sunshine and rainbows endings in anime where everyone gets on jus like that and where everyone finds their special someone somehow.
Those kind of endings make me sick. Gundam 00 s1 ending was just amazeing and s2 ended okay.
