I meant the trailer. Date is probably real soon, since there's already footage of scenes from the second season. I'm not surprised if it's released as early as Fall or Winter.

That's not true at all. None of the "animation" from the trailer was new; they were all still images, and all of them were simply colored scans taken straight from the novel illustrations. There was only one tiny, small bit of the trailer animated.

Which makes me worry season 2 won't be coming for a while.

3 actually. Shido holding sword in the middle of ice field (his clothes alone mean it's not a still image), you could see the white snow-like thing falling around Ellen, and Tohka bringing down giant sword.

Not exactly much different from my point.

Every image from the trailer (including the ones you pointed out) was taken straight from the novel illustrations. The only one that doesn't match up exactly with a novel illustration was Tohka's, which wasn't quite a long, big spectacle of animation. The complete lack of actual footage suggests we have a ways to go before season 2 airs.

Well yeah, but my point is that they weren't still images like you said. Not like season 1 didn't rip off from the novel illustrations in the animation.

If going by past history... since season 1 took 16.5 months after the announcement to come out, we're looking at a wait till maybe Fall 2014. Maybe have it briefly listed as Summer 2014 anime before the listing gets taken down, as well. By then we could have a season 3 green-lit even before season 2 comes out...

Erm, I think you're somewhat missing what I'm saying. I'm not critiquing the animation quality, I'm talking about how soon season 2 will be airing based on what we saw in the trailer. There were no really animated scenes in the trailer, let alone any actual footage, which isn't a good indicator for season 2 airing any time soon.

And half of them were complete still images anyway, while the "animated" ones were no more animated than a quick flash project. Not a good sign of season 2 coming soon.

EDIT: If I'm interpretting this chart right, DAL volume 2 has sold over 6,400 BD copies and 1,600 DVD copies so far.

You missed my point. Technically, those quick flash projects weren't still images.

I can wait till next year fall though. Got to catch up on other anime adaptations of light novels, see.
