Will it ever make it out of beta?

Visited the non-beta main page for the first time in...I don't even know how long. Really hit me then how much better the beta template is in terms of navigation. Tabs are so much better than the current drop down menus imo. Admittedly, there's no mascot on the beta page.

Anyways, just wondering about the status of beta.animesuki.com.

I'm afraid the beta site is on indefinite hold at the moment, see also this thread.

While the beta site is a big improvement (IMHO) over the current site, it is just an evolution of it, rather than the "revolution" the site might need.

I understand why you wouldn't want to put more effort on something that you might even decide to end. But sometimes it's better to have evolutionary improvements now or soon, especially if they're big, while waiting for a revolutionary improvement (which might not even happen for a long time, if at all). And perhaps the improvements people see might even be enough to regain some sort of purpose for the site, or at least be the start of that.

(Although with that said, I fully admit that I probably still will not be a more frequent visitor to the site than I am already currently, which is almost never nowadays, but who knows...)

You do have a point there; I might try to at least finish the beta site to the point where it (mostly) replicates current features (prominently missing right now is Groups browser for example) and put it online anyway.

I guess beta.animesuki.com no longer works? Had it set as my bookmark and was trying to figure out why I couldn't connect to the site.

Sorry, the beta site is hosted on the same server as the normal (old v2) site and I replaced the main OS drive on Friday. While I quickly restored the old site (which most people see) on Friday evening, I have yet to fix everything.

Sadly it's a bit late here now (near 11 pm CET here) so I'll get to fixing the site tomorrow. But it will be back for sure.

Okay, I think I fixed the problem that caused the beta site to load very slowly (until it timed out on reading data from another server). Searching also works again.
