Not to mention diminishing Emukae's worth. Really, this could've been a great opportunity for a minus, whose relatively 'weak' to prove how strong they can actually be when they have the motivation and the will.

I'm beguinning to think Nishio isn't a big Emukae fan, just everyone else is.

Well, we don't exactly know how much All-Fiction has been nerfed, do we? I've long suspected that all it can do now is prevent him from dying, which doesn't exactly mean that he can win.

It never meant he'd win as Zenkichi showed, but he can't lose which is basically as good as a win, he can outlast them and has no endurance issues, thats the real issue.

Looking over the spoiler again I can't believe how badly emukae got trolled, she didn't even force the person to use her style she was just fighting normally.

There's no confirmation on the spoiler, but like I've said it hasn't really been wrong yet and it has come out at the usual time.

Probably because Medaka box is now somewhat safe. With the anime and decent volume sales I doubt jump is in a hurry to cancel it. So he can pretty much do what he wants.

She's a minus, she'll get over it. Anyway, Zenkichi's a lost cause, she's going down a path that's only going to keep her unhappy, if she snaps out of it and gets over Zenkichi, it can only be good development for her. She doesn't need him.

Well, the ability is one that frees the story from the narrative conventions associated with the genre. Without any conventions tying the story down, literally anything can happen. Theoretically, the author could have them all massacred by the "strongest suitor" in the next chapter and it would still be justified by "Devil Style".

People were already questioning how the heck Emukae would even remotely win against this suitor, given the information beforehand. Had Emukae somehow won, it would've been an ass pull. Truthfully, I kinda thought she would lose. Her losing, and her confessing will only do her character good, she can't keep deluding herself that she should live for Zenkichi.

but winning and moving on aren't mutually exlusive. God knows when she'll next get her time to shine. I didn't even really care if she won or not she should have at least got a positive experience from this at least to some degree.

The far better route would be her growing out of that naturally instead of being violently disposed of those feelings, like Akune with Medaka. Her winning could simply be attributed to the same performance boost Zenkichi's getting right now, and to the will and motivation her character has as she has obviously been working herself out to stand in Zenkichi's council. She deserved her fight and a win, really. She deserved some good character development. Deserved more than a chapter to shine before being called 'useless'.

This is forceful character development, for whatever reason, I don't see this absolute trollage of the character as anything welcome.

If anything, Kaisos is right, Nishio's only doing this to piss people off.

But getting a horrible beatdown without the suitor even using her style is unnecessary. Yes, her winning would be a big asspull, but at least let her lose with dignity, not become another useless damsel in distress for a broken character to save.
I think it's just that, most people are annoyed at the way she lost rather than her actually losing.

That's the thing, she didn't even get a chapter to shine. Emukae got a chapter to belittle herself and 1 page to shine. ONE PAGE, not a chapter, one page. The others have gotten one or two chapters to look awesome, she got one page and then a beating the next chapter. It's unnecessary and unfair...which is doing a great job at pissing some people off...

granted she could win and move on, you can't win them all. It'd get boring if everyone won everything, gotta lose some time. Is this doing a disservice to Emukae's character? I wouldn't say so, because I doubt it's being done in mean spirit. If she loses badly, she'll get back up eventually. I really doubt it's Nisio's intent to just crap on her forever. You guys are living in the moment way too much.

People actually like Emukae's character, what do you expect when the author treats her character like useless, disposable trash, when It's her time to fight, and up until now the Student Council has put up great fights and had decent development? We expect the members of the team to get some good development and spotlight, not just be trolled to hell and back.

Worst of all his how she loses, and how she's saved. Perhaps you simply don't care for the character enough to see how much of a disservice this is.
