[PS2] Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus
Ok today is friday, anyone received their weekly import shipment yet ?
I manage to play through the training mission at a mate's home yesterday. Although i had some difficulties with the controlling at the beginning. I.e. their is no button for centering the camera and the aiming with the right analogue stick is reversed, which you can reset in the config probably. The good thing is you can play it with usb mouse and keyboard and there is a first person perspective view as well. Graphic and sound are ok, just like most of the latest releases. I cannot comment on cut scence (just played the training mission), but i think they're nearly all pre-rendered. The online modus is over playonline and requires the official sony HDD, so i couldn't test it. Considering this, i doubt that this game will ever get an European release (except maybe a PC version ? or a cut down version like RE: outbreak file 1). Well it is fun to play, but not everyone cake. I don't think i will import this myself, since there are some good titles coming up soon for the PS2 , such as 24 and Black, and i don't think it is worth getting the JPN version for a non japanese speaker like me, since one will probably miss out most of the story. |

Well there is the problem, the First-person view is dependent on
the scope you have on you're gun. it's hard to explain, i.e. if you have a sniper scope on you're gun you won't be able to see what is run next to you. Also you can morph, then you might want to use the 3rd person view, to be able to see and hit you're enemies. Furthermore you get EXP after each level or when you die to level up, which increases your stats. So it is not entirely a FPS. Jumping seems to be also a problem in this game, most certainly you won't be able to jump on a box at the first try. You need to hit the (bigger) box at a certain angle to make a successful jump on it. Story wise, it is probably the core of the game a lot of cut screens (probably too much), a lot is told, although i'm not sure what they're talking about. Btw appearently Gack or Gnak or what she's called makes a appearence as well. |

If you wanna watch some of the fmvs from the games; here they are, ripped by a guy on gamefaqs that goes by the name of IdoAlphaOmega, and coverted and compressed by me; sayde. lol.
Don't worry though. The quality's still perfect (or damn close to it). Title Vid http://files.filefront.com/DoC_Intro.../fileinfo.html Opening Movie http://files.filefront.com/1DoC_Intr.../fileinfo.html Lucrecia's Collapse http://files.filefront.com/DoC_in_ga.../fileinfo.html Highwind 2 "The Sierra" Appears http://files.filefront.com/DoC_in_ga.../fileinfo.html Omega Phenomenon http://files.filefront.com/DoC_in_ga.../fileinfo.html Prelude to War http://files.filefront.com/DoC_in_ga.../fileinfo.html Death from above! And below! And all sides! http://files.filefront.com/DoC_in_ga.../fileinfo.html Omega Cloudburst http://files.filefront.com/DoC_in_ga.../fileinfo.html Shelke Finds the Materia http://files.filefront.com/DoC_in_ga.../fileinfo.html Injection V http://files.filefront.com/DoC_in_ga.../fileinfo.html Ending Movie/Credits http://files.filefront.com/10Dirge_o.../fileinfo.html Super Secret Ending http://files.filefront.com/11Super_S.../fileinfo.html I recommend watching both intro's, and #5&6. (definately number 6). There are a few more fun ones to watch, but the ones I recommedn contain the least amount of spoilers. Last edited by sayde; 2006-02-07 at 18:16. |

But it might be worth to wait for the oversea release, because squareenix might fix some stuff in the game, and maybe make it to an online version without the usage of the HDD. Or just do it like me nick it from a friend ^^ |

I recall starting a thread when i first heard the news about this game but most of the discussion turned about how square was milking their cash cow.
Anyways it's good to hear that it relies too much on it's story. But i don't think i am going to play it before watching advent children, or is it unrelated? (answer without spoilers please)

Well i manage to box through this game yesterday.
My findings are: -(far) too much cut screens, however thankfully you can skip it ^^ -the control on the pad is annoying when fighting some stage bosses Spoiler:
the problem with the pad is that you aim with the right analogue stick, however if you press on it, aka R3, it switches to First person view. As sayde said, the event in DoC takes place after AC, and completes the story of the FF7 world (?). |

Yeah, I agree. The mere presence of this new character named "G" (in the secret ending) definately hints towards another sequal(s) sometime in future providing people keep supporting the rest of this compilation. There have been so many theories going around as to who he is and how he came to be.

I think it is just a tribut to her, that "G" ending. I really doubt that a sequel will be made for this game. However more FF7 spin-off, maybe. But if i remember correctly wasn't DoC supposed to end the lifestream issue ? |

read this: G Report 1 -The Two Taboos- The combat group which exceeds normal men, SOLDIER, was created by the Shinra Company. In the world of SOLDIER, there are two taboos that must never be discussed. First, the all too famous "S", who existed as their strongest symbol and worst catastrophe. However, there are few in SOLDIER who know of the other taboo. All of the records of his actions were erased, and all that remains of this unique SOLDIER is the first letter of his name, "G". G Report 2 -The Only Record- "G". That, and only that, is what was shown of the anomaly. It's rumored to be the prototype which was used to produce "S". However, everything that has been caught up in the mystery, up till now, and its own existance, may be nothing more than a fabrication. The only record. Here, from many years ago, are records of a 1st Class SOLDIER who recieved a strictly confidential order. The SOLDIER was to pursue a man known as "G"... And, afterwards, the name "G" was never recorded again. However... G Report 3 -《G》 Sleeps in Midgar- "G" Sleeps in Midgar... Deep underground, waiting to be awoken... When I came here, I thought it was just another urban legend, one of many. About what was under the surface of Midgar. The facilities concealed there, existing like an ageless demon... There are few who lived to tell the tale of it's construction, including me... ... This will probably be the end. The data I've obtained, this is all of it. The SOLDIERS named for a "G", they are the products of "G". "G" is more or less the prototype for "S". (guess who the legendary "S" is) But anyways, perhaps the main proof of a sequal could be from what "G" says during the ending. Spoiler:
