Agreed with Mentar for the most part. But I didn't really expect much from the movie to begin with. Without being able to properly introduce the characters like an anime series would do, there just isn't much they could do with it. Then again, considering their target audience most likely was people who are familiar with the franchise... then they kinda failed. I'm just considering the possibility that they intended this to be accessible to anyone, which would be dumb in itself, but well.
Either way, it had some funny parts and the animation really wasn't that bad, I think they just tried to stick closer to the manga's style which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I personally prefer JC Staff's (S2) animation, but hey. Overall, it was okay and it's less than an hour long anyway. Just bring on S3 already! |

Wow, this takes place way after the anime.
Spoiler for thoughts:
And that wraps up what I thought of it. This makes me hopeful for the 3rd season, I already mentioned the character design improvement, and the brief scene with Hina showed they can do a good job with action scenes, which is important if we ever get to the Greece Arc.

When that line was said, you hear the chime once again, so im sure the person whose emotions were granted at the end of the movie was Hayate's grandmother's feelings of wanting him to be happy

I watched it without any expectations or prior knowledge, and I can say I at least enjoyed it. I would probably rate it around 6 or 7 out of 10. The biggest disappointment was the art. The fact that it stayed closer to the manga style was a great idea, but maybe that lead to its own ruin by limiting the art as such. Or maybe it was just the studio's limit .
Seeing all the cast again was very nice; it really makes me want season 3. Too bad chibi A-tan was excluded though. Kayura was there, so I kinda was expected A-tan to be there as well, so that was a bit disappointing. And poor Hinagiku, always at the end of Hayate's misleading actions. As for the story itself, I was expecting more of a slice of life type of plot with some humorous events here and there, more alike how the manga chapters were, and we did get some of that so that was good. But when that mysterious character showed up, I knew I would be getting more than that... The story wasn't necessary bad, but I thought it might have developed better if it had more time, ie 100+ minutes. And, I'm definitely not a Nagi-shipper (might even go as far as to say anti-Nagi), so it was a bit hard for me to stay interested.
