Kamisama Hajimemashita Season Two
A second season has been announced. Quote:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...-season/.77194 I am actually surprised tbh. It's been nearly two years since the show debuted. I do read the manga and it's a decent shoujo imo so I will be looking forward to it.

Funimation won. They finally licensed something that I was willing to subscribe to because I couldn't wait a week for the Hulu version.
But episode 1 certainly made me feel that the subscription was money well-spent. The only thing missing from the episode was Karuma. And based on the 2 credit sequences, I'm not worried that he won't appear.

Well, this was cute. I was a bit "ehh" in the first half when Nanami was doing the usual "I don't need to be protected! *fails miserably and needs to be protected*" thing that I hate, but they got around that nicely. I only missed Kurama, really.
While not even the promise of Suwabe Junichi can make me interested in Tomoe's (undoubtably angsty) backstory, I hope Nanami being her cute self will help me get over that arc. And as for what I'm interested in... was that another tengu next to Kurama in the ED sequence? Are we going to get a Kurama arc? Pleasepleaseplease! And the OP/ED songs are still so cute. |

The show is back in full force!
Overall a solid episode. I like both the OP and ED song for this season. Comedy was decent overall although I wonder how much of the manga they will adapt. Tomoe was awesome though and Nanami gets a new friend/power.

It shows she's learning her abilitites, which is great. |

I'm not very attentive to visuals, so I might be imagining things. But did they change the look slightly? Paler colours, slightly rougher textures? Somehow I felt I liked the way the second season looks better than last season. But I'm unsure. (It might be because I've seen so much CGI since then, that the style stands out more?)

The draw, for me, with this series is that the shoujo-isms aren't too bad, but the comedic timing is great. Which it was. I look forward to much more of the humor.
Ep 1 was a good reintroduction. Got everyone up to speed, pretty quickly, and we got to see our main players be themselves. On to next week! |
