That's only speculah tho. Also, there are about 6 times as many characters in the OVA on the total roster. There is no confirmation that the others belong to the BRS universe as well.

Considering the infamy I've heard surrounding this OVA, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. That said, watching it...and enjoying it, requires a very special type of person. You need to be free minded enough to have an affinity for melodrama, but curious enough to keep watching as two stories don't correlate until the final moments. Even then, it ends on a stinger that leaves you wanting to know more. It's friendship metaphors the anime, and can be a lot more rewarding than you actually think.
