Now I'm seriously thinking about it: Kiritsugu would give him huge thumbs up, considering that she was the reason why he accepted a normal sense of happiness and closed his storyarc huh. Shirou picked his type of women: broken victim and waifu Grail rolled into one in the end.

There is no romance. None. Gilgamesh isn't capable of it. He's only interested in Saber, because he can't have her. If he did somehow get her, he'd grow bored of her rather quickly, and move onto to something else.

It's based on the Gil's route ending of that game:

Gilgamesh basically acts in a similar manner in Hollow Ataraxia (a more "jerk with a heart of gold" stock character when he's in adult form). I don't prefer that characterization, but since Nasu wrote him like that in Ataraxia, it's canon. CCC Gilgamesh looks going exactly into the same direction (closer to his Prototype Version). I prefer Gen's Gilgamesh in Zero.
