Considering all of the hype around this series (and the fact it is actully pretty good), I'm surprised it is one of the less discussed ones here.

Festival was pretty fun with a bit of fancervise even (way less than in the manga still). Hope, the staff will go all out for the actual performance.

Maybe, but its not exactly controversial and there's not much to speculate about. Speaking of the manga though I ended up reading it and its impressive how the anime expands on gags that were really short in the manga, especially with the zany live action or 3D scenes.

Mentioning this, I saw a youtube video last week that picks up on that same thing, specifically, at 6:40

Really makes me appreciate the additional details they put in to make it a more fleshed out, entertaining experience.

it's simply a fun show. Not much to argue about.

as far as I recall, the only time discussion blew up and a thread was closed in myanimelist.. is on the episode where Bocchi was censored with a school swimsuit instead of the two piece she had in the manga.

Rocks don't ride waves, they just drop to the bottom! But at least they can get (super) strat-ified

Another great funny show. Despite the original material is still ongoing, the show managed to produce a satifying ending. Actually this is one of the few shows, where the adaptation trumps the original source. It is just a show about growing up and the love for music, but it is a well written one.

I'd say this was easily my anime of the year for 2022.

It was funny, it had unique visual gags, dedication from its creators and cast that went above and beyond, had the heartwarming moments, Bocchi's social anxiety was approached in realistic way, and it is a music series that actually was one. The final episode just goes straight into a mini-concert with no wasted time.

It's not just a CGDCT series, it was so much more.

Every single episode got better as the series went on. I can't remember that happening before.

I will truly miss seeing abrupt cuts to Bocchi in a garbage can.

Honestly Bocchi was only about a 7/10 for me at most; the visual gags were great but the cast felt sort of one note. Still a solid show but a bit overrated.

Finished watching Bocchi the Rock! and I have to say that it's worth it. I have to give props to Cloverworks for adapting a Manga Time Kirara title into an amazing show.

Bocchi's creator having to move her booth outside by herself at Comiket is the Bocchi-est thing that could have happened.

this anime is so strong. Currently ranked #13, with a very high score of 9.00 in Myanimelist. Well, it would probably go down as more people watch. But this is still an achievement.

The gags were good, the art was superb and varied, and the self doubt was quite the illustration in and of itself.

One of my rare 10/10.

I picked up the series last week and just finished watching it. It was really well worth it. I think this is the best anime of 2022 that I have seen. Everything about it flow naturally and done in a realistic manner. The gags were just done right and are funny.

Tonight's Anime Trending Awards were a Bocchi bloodbath, or maybe a Bocchi butt-kicking. The show walked away with eight trophies:
  1. Anime of the Year
  2. Best Adapted Screenplay
  3. Best Direction and Storyboard (for Episode #8)
  4. Best Soundtrack
  5. Best Vocal Cast
  6. Comedy of the Year
  7. Music Anime of the Year
  8. Slice of Life Anime of the Year

The Reddit /r/Anime Awards were just as impressive, at least on the "public vote" side of things:
  1. Best Comedy (jury prize)
  2. Best Comedy (public vote)
  3. Best Comedic Character (for Bocchi) (public vote)
  4. Best Cast (public vote)
  5. Best Animation (public vote)
  6. Best Soundtrack (public vote)
  7. Best Voice Actor (Yoshino Aoyama as Bocchi) (public vote)
  8. Anime of the Year (public vote)

On the other hand, Reddit jury votes were inferior. The only nomination I preferred their vote over public one was Best slice of life.
