The Reddit jury always goes against the grain. In a previous year, they gave just about every juror award they could to Sonny Boy while the public went with Odd Taxi.

Wonder if Bocchi will clean up at the Crunchyroll awards too.

Crunchyroll Awards include Fall 2021 - Summer 2022 seasons, so it will only participate next year.

Reddit always amuses me for the wrong reasons

Binged the series. This is basically how Komisan should have been made with the handling of social anxiety and comedy at the same time.

Finished watching it a couple days ago and this was one of those rare anime that don't just live up to the hype: it completely exceeded it.

The director and the whole staff are clearly extremely talented and were dedicated to bringing out the best out of this manga. If anyone else had one it I doubt it would have been as successful.

Definitely the best anime of 2022. Season 2 can't come soon enough.

Apparently the manga was published in a seinen magazine which probably led to some uncomfortable scenes considering the anime toned it down. Still, Hitori's dad barely appears in the anime as a joke about the manga's demography.

The only thing the anime toned down is the size of Bocchi's boobs. But the manga was already pretty inoffensive and wholesome to begin with. This is published in a Kirara magazine (Kirara Max) after all. It's technically seinen, but it's seinen for people who likes mostly inoffensive slice of life kinda content. For example, K-On was published in a Kirara magazine too.

Houbunsha has a whole line up of Kirara manga magazines. All of them target the readership that likes moe aesthetics and mostly chill content.

Not really, he appears as much as he does in the manga. The joke is that they never show his eyes.
