Haku-chan, were you going to use those recent Kanokon vectors for any sig? Especially for the August sotm? If not, I'd like to use them ^_^ Either that, or one of your chibi okami vectors!

Well, it seems I can't make animated avatars anymore sooo...it's not fair! Dx
I got bored last night and started drawing again. I couldn't finish Bakugami so I started on a new brush god. This time it's Kasugami, the rat with a giant sword. I'm just not too sure what to do to make her look more rat-like. Perhaps you guys can help me out a bit. Here's my rough sketch. That my first try at drawing an "actiony-like" pose. I hope I did okay. She's running across her sword. (She teaches Okami the Power Slash) I'm not too sure where to put her other arm and hand and what her facial features will be like, so bear with me. ^^;

See how the tail has those little bands? If you look at pictures of real rats you can see that on certain species, I think. I think it contributes to part of the dislike that people have for rats, though. Either way, you could do something similar with the hair by adding in ties along the length so that it's made into a lot of little segments. However, I'm not sure how much I'd like that. I'm not a fan of it in real life because it looks sort of like dredlocks, which I'm usually not a huge fan of (it works for some people, though). I guess in this case it'd be one big lock. The thing is, I really like the way you've drawn the hair as it is - super-long ponytails like that are terribly attractive in my mind. It's something to consider, though. If you want to make her look more mousey, you could add whiskers or even a small mouse tail. Thinking back on other anime examples, small rounded ears at the top of the head also give a sort of a mousey look for anime characters, I think. (If the ears are pointed then it seems more catty or doggy; rounded ears seem to correspond to bears and mice/rats in anime, if I remember right.) Nice work, keep it up!

First of all, thanks for the feedback Ledgem. ^^
And yes, I totally understand what you're saying. I'll try putting rounded ears and a tail on her. I'm not sure about whiskers, but I'll see how it turns out. I didn't mean to make her look as old as I did, unfortunately I wanted her to look much younger. As for her long ponytail, I quite like that my self. For a character that teaches a powerful sword technique I thought it'd be good to give her a ponytail, because if she had her hair down all the way I'm sure it'd get in the way of the sword. I might as well explain the reason for her running across the sword, huh. Well, when Okami receives the sword as a weapon she can set it to either sub or main. Either way, in rests on her back while being about twice as long as she is. When it's placed as the sub-weapon and you attack, Ammy stands on top of it while momentarily floating in the air. She then comes crashing down on the enemy with full force. Also I wanna say that, since I've sorta learned to vector images, I might acually be able to color some of my art "vector-style". I'll have to see how it works out. Speaking of vectors. Here's another of Chizuru. And a new sig for me, courtesy of Furuno's night sig tutorial. ^^
