Hmm. Well, Yuria's first album (self titled) came out two weeks ago now, and I'd had it bundled with some other CDs that are shipping in a fortnight (shipping from Japan tip - always bundle things - otherwise it costs too much!).
I got a tad impatient though, and 'acquired' the album through other means. And, after listening to it through a few times... I've just cancelled that CD from the order. Frankly, it's not too impressive as a debut album. It's got a couple of nice songs, but the album overall is rather mediocre. I might still buy it... but at a time when I'm just a tad more affluent, and perhaps bundled with a hopefully better album from her. :/ -Andiyar

The sad thing is that puts her on par with most American artists.
Usually when I buy a jpop/anime album I get closer to a 50% "decent tune" rate, whereas every apop album I've picked up that was made in the last 20 years... I'm lucky if anyone in the room can stand more than 3 songs on a 10 song album.

For myself, if I want to buy an album, I will almost always download a copy of it first to see if it's worth getting. If I've heard a single from the artist and liked it, I'll do this - if I find that I dislike more than half of the music on the album, and I really want some of said artist's music, I'll just shrug and maybe get the single. If half or more of the album is good, I'll either get it soon (most of the album is good or ok to listen to) or when I see it slightly cheaper online/etc (if it's around half good).
My problems with Yuria's album arise from the fact that my favourite song from her would be NA NA IRO (which is technically a Sweets Takenai song), which of course isn't included... the only songs I listened to from the album that I thought I'd bother with again were YOU (which I already have), and... something with an unromanised title Although I'm aware that a lot of albums nowadays are comprised mostly of filler... I was hoping for more from Yuria. Especially as it is her first album - I would have hoped she'd make a better first impression. -Andiyar
