Our Star Blazers has updated on January 15 with a bunch of new information. I'll be posting the Secret Files that came with the Ark of the Stars movie.

Just got the two cosmo falcons I had ordered before Christmas:
Looking at them I feel like the models won't do the series justice unless I work some magic with weathering kits. maybe I should try to find the time and place to actually give these ones a proper coat of paint (even though I absolutely suck at it).

Nice information and nice models.
We used one of the newer Mecha Colle model kits last Saturday for a test game between the Comet Empire and Gamilas Empire (as seem in the 9 minute footage from Ark of the Stars). The Gamilas did better on the table than on the screen. Sure the Medaruusa-class ship vaporized four destroyers at the start, but the Gamilas managed to close enough to destroy five Cometine destroyers in return (before we ended the game because it after 8pm). This model was built withing a half hour with no glue needed. It has not been painted yet. We will likely get two more to paint red and blue, or maybe even the standard fleet green. Also a crudely merged scale chart for a majority of the ship types (missing the Gamilas carriers, the moderized battleship, and Dessler's ship) in Yamato 2199 and Ark of the Stars. Gatlantis, Gamilas, and Terron.

Amazon Japan has confirmed the release date for Yamato 2199: Ark of the Stars.
May 27, 2015. The BD will have English subtitles. And is Region Free. There is also a two disc set and a collector's set. Not sure what all is on the second disc. Probably all the specials and events around the movie. The collector's box can hold all ten Yamato 2199 BDs.

And ordered. Both the collector's version from Amazon and a single disc version as a gift (along with the compelation movie for someone who hasn't picked up the series discs due to expense). The two films on BD as single discs cost about the same as the collector's two disc set with collector's box of Ark of the Stars through Amazon Japan.
Also ordered more Mecha Colle model kits from Bandai through Hobby Link Japan. Both Amazon Japan and CD Japan have the film up for preorder.

Ah, well. I wasn't optimistic about my chances. By the way, impressive work on your "crudely merged" size comparison chart! It's kind of surprising that something official that's this comprehensive has not been produced nearly three years after the show debuted.

Thank you.
I wonder what will be next for Battleship Yamato and or the production crew that make it. I've started working on a side project to make up something for a pre-Yamato Earth fleet for 2191-2198 in the Star Blazers Fleet Battle System game. Using a mix of real world ships, fan art, and odd logic as the basis for the various Earth regional fleets in place following the Interplanetary Wars and for First Contact with Gamilas. I'm working with the notion that Earth had 50 battleship at the start of the Gamilas War. Thes are of various ages and function. A hundred or so cruisers and a few hundred destroyers of all types. They would outnumber the invading Gamilas fleet at the start...but the majority of the fleet is woefully underpowered, small, and using inferior technology that most of it cannot hope to really threaten the Gamilas ships. Only the battleships really have any real chance against Gamilas cruisers, and the Earth cruisers are functional against Gamilas destroyers...but most Earth destroyers? Target practise for the Gamilas. These are even smaller and less armed than ships like Yukikaze, which is relatively advanced. And we saw how those did against the Gamilas at Pluto. I am having the Gamilas not as well prepared against the humans until Pluto. The humans were clearly expecting their weapons to do something, yet did basically nothing. I interpret this as the Gamilas adding specifically fomulated extra coating to their reflective armor on their ships by Pluto. Prior to this, they still had a reflective coat, just not as well suited to Earth weapons (it did absolutely nothing against Yamato's shock cannons until they ran into Dommel's flagship, which was extremely armored on the bow). So Earth ships will be able to damage Gamilas ships...at very close ranges. By Pluto these same tactics would have their weapons bounce off the Gamilas reflective armor. Earth still only one one major battle against the Gamilas. Over Mars relatively early in the war. After that the engagements were decided by the Gamilas, and the Planet Bombs started to fall to Earth. It still took Gamilas nearly eight years to defeat the Earth fleets. The fleet under Okita at Pluto was what was left....mostly old cruiser, an old battleship, and whatever destroyers they had left.

So with how SBY 2199 is treating the Gamilons and Gatlanteans, what are your predictions for a remake of season 2, the Dark Nebula movies, and Bolar Wars would go plotwise? If they do do season 2, I hope they incorporate more of the Gamilons. An epic fight with Gamilons and the EDF fighting the Comet Empire in the Solar System would be sweet.

I would like to see the EDF save Garmilas from Gatlantis and have both powers expel/defeat the Gatlantis forces.
Would make a nice shift, since Earth doesn't have the population to be much of a power after the Garmilas war I would think. Plus, the Garmilas fleet has been pounded by both Yamato, their internal power struggle, and the Gatlantis.

You know why Yamato and later anime (Nadeshiko) so iconic. It's all about a lone battleship. It's different from Star Trek. The crew of anime Yamato have good luck charm. They can overcome any obstacles, if they dare to try. This anime spirit influenced other anime battleship/carrier such as White Base(Mobile Suit Gundam) and Super Dimensional Fortress(Macross).

It depends on how long until the next adventure is for Yamato. Four or so years would mean they would have a core for the new generation ships being built. A core fleet around the brand new Andromeda. Earth's advantage is technical due to the Iscandarian technology. The Andromeda's wave motion guns are likely designed to get around treaty restrictions by being an anti-fleet weapon rather than an anti-planetary weapon. It would still be a weapon of mass destruction, but it wouldn't be able to crack a planet in half (just vaporize a large surface area).
Yamato's gun would likely be restored to the original specifications, perhaps with a waver to the treaty due to the need to defend Earth/Gamilas/Iscandar. They could revisit New Voyages as the way to setup the Comet Empire storyline instead of the Dark Nebula or Teressa of Telassart, but she would need to play a part I think, unless they have her role taken by Yurisha or Starsha. The Bolar will probably remain as they are, but be either a galatic rival for a section of the Gamilas Empire, or a piece of either thay Empire or Gatlantis' conquests that has broken away after Yamato in commissioned.
