Yeah, definitely no coincidence. Basically, as you remember from the end of D.C., Sakura leaves to go back to America and promises to return some day. In the D.C. II demo/prelude, we get a flashback in the form of a letter read where she wishes Junichi and Nemu happiness together. During Otome's arc, we see (through flashbacks) that Sakura eventually got lonely and a bit jealous as she heard news of Junichi's family. Because of her (self-imposed) exile and the magical tree's continued influence on her, she had no family to call her own anymore. Eventually, she decided to go back to Hatsunejima to cure her loneliness, and that's how she came to be principal at the school. (She comments at one point that she considers them all her children.) However, the magical sakura tree granted her innermost desires for a family on a much deeper level - so appears Yoshiyuki Sakurai (first-last name order).

In all the game paths, Otome is asked/forced/made to kill the magical sakura tree once again. However, in Otome and Yume's paths, we find out that since Yoshiyuki's existance was a result of the tree's magic, killing the tree also erases his existance from the world and everyone's memories of him. Before this comes to pass in Otome's path, Yoshiyuki encounters Sakura in a dream and she apologizes to him, saying that everything's her fault. Nevertheless, Yoshiyuki thanks her for the life and happiness he was granted, and calls her "mother", which makes her very happy to the point of tears - Sakura's wish for a family had in fact been granted through him. I'm sure that there's more details to come in the D.C. path, but that's what the Asakura sisters paths reveal so far. (If anyone can clarify any misinterpretations, I'd be grateful.)

Don't give up your ideas of a happy ending just yet, though. If you really want to ruin the rest, go back and read some of the previous spoilers that cyw1988 and I were talking about over the last few days.

We also know this fact from Anju's and Koko's storyline as well although the results of the death of the tree wasn't that serious. ie in Koko's storyline he was just feeling weak while in Anju's storyline she was close to forgeting who he was has it not been for the H(Note: Anju's power from the tree is having a good memory). Even in Nanaka's storyline this bit was mentioned. Otome was surprised that yoshiyuki still existed after she killed the tree...

I thought mabushikute was abit off-tuned but was still ok. And really Nanaka started off my most favourite character and now she ends up somewhere in the bottom(partly coz her storyline really couldn't get me to feel for her character). My list goes like this Otome>Anju>Yume>Koko>Nanaka>Minatsu. I had to force myself to do minatsu's storyline just to get the D.C. Path hehe.

I efffing knew it. Well, hey, didn't I mention that I didn't mind getting spoiled? :P
So that's why Yoshiyuki never mentions anything about his childhood, besides being with the sisters... You mean he just pops up out of nowhere, and gets adopted by Junichi? Damn...

I'm still happy that I know something more about the overall storyline, though.

Wooo... my head's spinning... And so far, each girl has her own specific "theme" on her story...

Anzu = memories (her story's about remembering and forgetting stuff)
Minatsu = humanity (well, she's not really human, is she?)
Koko = feelings (or should I say repressed feelings...)
Nanaka = friendship (with her, Yoshiyuki, Koko and Wataru; the band relationship)

Otome = magic (she's a priestess, right?)
Yume = dreams (not much here, but I remember that she has clairvoyance/foresight, and her namesake )

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

While I'm a self-avowed collector of most things Da Capo, I have to admit that even I have a hard time justifying an (ecchi) pillow case unless it happens to come with something else that I was going to get anyway. Plus, I suppose that price is quite steep... and, to be honest, it'd end up staying the box anyway.

However, I am planning on picking up the "Official Perfect Visual Book" that's scheduled to come out at the end of the month. It hasn't hit Amazon for pre-orders yet, but you can see it listed on the MediaWorks site (near the bottom of the page).

And yeah, cyw1988, my lack of reply about Minatsu's story is because that's the last storyline I have to go through as well. Maybe it's "save the best for last", but the truth is that I was more curious about the Asakura girls' stories. We'll see what happens though. So far, while I had my favourites, I wouldn't say that I disliked any of the D.C. II stories.

Well, there aren't any yet, but it's about as sure of a thing as you'll get in this business. Da Capo is Circus's cash-cow (and for good reason!). The game only came out in May, so no expansions have been announced yet, but I expect we'll see something timed with the anime release, and I expect both sometime next year. The original Da Capo had a number of expansions and re-releases, and I don't see why this one would be any different. But, of course, time will tell.

Yeah - I included that in the main post a little while ago (but nobody knows that I've been updating it becacuse I haven't been bumping the thread ). Anyway, it's actually a fandisk and they've announced 5 main scenarios from different Circus games so far: Kotori from D.C., Yume & Otome from D.C. II, Sae from Kujira, and Sena from Sukumizu 2. More info can be found on the main site; the game's expected to ship December 22nd (appropriately enough, just in time for Christmas ).

Now that the thread's bumped anyway, I can say to check out the first post for all the latest announced merchandise.

Actually, that's just "December 2006", without a day. The 22nd was mentioned in a magazine ad I saw, but it may just be a target date.

My guess is Spring 2008 - can't wait to see Nanaka in all her goodness!

The winner will probably be one of the Nemu clones, however - don't really care which one wins, as long as I see a full-fledged catfight, in true Da Capo fashion. The Nemu-Sakura bloodbath will be tough to top, but I'd like to see them try.

But absolutely no complaints if we see a repeat of the Riko/Kirino angst in this adaptation. Rooting for Nanaka all the way!

I'm still going with Summer 2007 as my guess at this point, following the "every two years" cycle. Based on the game, I don't know if you'll get your much-desired cat fight, as the path they're most likely to take doesn't really have one. That being said, they'll have to shuffle the events around anyway if they want to fit a bit of all the paths in one timeline, so who knows what they'll do. There is very little "Riko/Kirino angst" in this game, though (this isn't Gift), and I don't think you can call either of the Asakura grandaughters "Nemu clones"... but you seem to revel in comparisons.

I might just give it a chance, who knows. The last few eroge turned anime I watched scared me off the genre, so now I'm only making exceptions for more different things like F/SN, at least for the meantime. I'm not even watching -Kanon- currently, because of lack of motivation and time, though I've been reading stuff about this season's shows in general.

By the way, which path do you think they're going for? Yume path, Otome path? Or the DC path that I still know nothing of?

I think Otome's path is the most likely, possibly incorporating parts of the D.C. path (which explains Sakura's side of the story even further), but they could go down Yume's path and still incorporate almost all of Otome's storyline. It's possible that they could go down either Nanaka or Koko's path (benefit being the angst/conflict that DanielSong39 wants), but they'd have to do a lot of path-merging/altering for that to work. I think the anime pretty much has to stay true to the core of the Otome (+ D.C.) ending in order to be "on theme", whether Yoshiyuki falls in love with Otome or not. Otome's path really is the "canon" ending of D.C. II, as it ties most directly to the magical sakura tree and most-fully explains Yoshiyuki's existance. That's not to say it's my favourite ending (that goes to Yume, personally), but I think it has the most essential plot of the six paths for an anime.
