I've only had a Dai San Gen since I've been playing on Tenhou.

So far the only real difference I've encountered is that the economic version has a simpler visual interface and more basic sound effects. Nothing ground shattering.

I'm a bit confused on something. On gamedesign, I wanted to ron that 3 of Characters, but when I clicked on it, the program said I was furiten on that tile. Yet I hadn't discarded it or passed one up. Does anyone know what rule makes it furiten? Or is it just a glitch?

It's because you already dealt a 6 man earlier; since that was one of the tiles you could have won from, you have to draw either the 3 man or the 6 man yourself to win.

Premium has voices and a faster frame rate. Tiles look different too.

Economy mode is sufficient.

I haven't been on Tenhou as much as I am now working five days a week. I did play the other night and I lost every hand

I'm beginning to realize my style of play is too much like Fake Akagi's.

@pb883: Maybe I should try the same one of these days and start anew. Then again you seem to play much more than I do (70 games already!!)

Nothing wrong wtih that. Actually, this so called online mahjong stylethat fake-aKagi and people like Nodoka use is one of the the only possible ways to play over the internet given that you can only rely on tile information to play.

But when it backfires, especially during consecutive han-chans, I just want to go and kick all sorts of things LOL

But I'm gonna tough it out and keep going with my account. The avg score is hovering around -0.50 to -0.60 which is actually good for me. On a previous account, the avg was around -3 to -4.

I envy your riichi rate. Damn, if I can riichi like that, who knows what'll happen?

Then again, it shows a possible tendency that you don't know when to quit when needed.

This game was awesome; someone managed to get a Kokushi, but I managed to come first anyway

Nice play on your part, but the person to your front played like a drunktard despite his Kokushi. Declaring riichi on a tenpai for a yakuman, declaring riichi's despite being 20000 in the lead, discarding very risky tiles on the first go around after a riichi. Geez. The person to your left started out plain bad but got better after a while. The person to your right started solid but crumbled down by the end....

... why is it so easy to see mistakes when they are not your tiles.

Hey now, I've declared riichi on Yakuman waits before... LOL

I think part of it is just a mentality of beating your opponent(s) into a pulp and forcing someone to go into negatives.

I finally won for the first time today:

*watches the first hand*

You like playing risky, don't you? Well, still it was a correct back vein discard, but as Akagi notes in one of the earlier episodes of the series, the tile discarded for the riichi declaration is more often than not noise rather than information you can rely upon.

I dunno if this is true, but from my experiences, the tile discarded two or three turns before the riichi declaration is often the giveaway...at least that's what I think based on my inability to read my opponents LOL

That first hand was a killer but good luck thankfully came my way.

Aw well. I've been criticizing to much. Here is a standard game of mine. Nothing too spectacular, and despite playing decently I only got meager results, but feel free to tear apart my style and give me some tips.
