I think that's her "normal" self showing through. Shinichirou in episode 1 was reflecting back to when she first moved in. They had been classmates since elementary school. Regarding the way she's been acting since moving in "I was really surprised. She was always so cheerful. I loved her smile. I loved her smile...". So he's been wondering why she's changed as well. She still mostly acts that way outside the house but was really distant with his household since moving in until episodes 2 and 3.

Since the time she saw Noe with Shinichiro she has opened up significantly to and interacted much more with him although she still maintains her distance from his parents. I think her flashbacks and her reflection on them is key to understanding her feelings and I can't wait for more of them in future episodes to fill us in on her thoughts of Shinichiro.

hehehe I never doubt it but there were so many people saying that she most likely had feelings for Jun that it was unbelieveable. I bet there are still people that believe that.
Fans of her were defending her about being a liar!

I agree. I thought it was quite clear, but like someone said, there was no evidence. With episode 5 we have it: not only Jun doesn't have a clue on who Hiromi is and needs several triggers to be touched before remembering, but Hiromi herself is severely annoyed by the fact of Jun being mentioned. As extreme proof that perhaps they do know to some degree, but love interest is miles away from that.

Anyway it doesn't even seem like number 4 is interested in her but might go with the flow if it is requested in order to make her sister happy. I don't like his tone of voice when he replies: "Oh so that's number 6" (iirc).

I've rewatched those scenes in the episode again. Sorry but she,

• Goes to the beach starts a friendly conversation and concludes it with Isurugi Noe talk.
• Avoids Noe for god knows whatever reason.
• Starts a conversation about the stupid room. (it's his damn house!)
• Somehow "forgets" she told Sinchiro she loves #4 and she also went as far as to ask for is help no less.

Shinchiro has Itsurugi Noe on his hands, not to mention has to deal with her brother. He has family problems and the family tradition to attend to. In his current situation mind reading Hiromi would be the last thing on his mind.

Lets face it did she send him any signals? It's like she mumbles half the sentences right one minute, then mumbles something completely random the next.

I couldn't put my finger on it earlier but I have a pretty good idea after watching it again. She's either the waiting type or the hard to get type. She's either waiting to get Shinchiro by default or waiting for him to ignore the lies and leap all over her in some sort of fiery tail fantasy. I'm sure some people take a liking to this kind of love, and I agree it's a form of mutual love, but it's a dirty good thing as far as I see. If she doesn't respect Shinchiro to tell him the truth and to rely on feelings of affection instead of feelings of jealousy from him, she doesn't deserve him...

I know it sounds too close to the accusations of Shinchiro's mom, but maybe that's part of the plot with her character. Hiromi fighting her history ~

I'm not sure why this episode convinced people to hate Hiromi, because it just gives a reason for why Hiromi's so shy. Shin's mother specifically told her not to be seen walking together, so that explains why they leave the house at different times. She also said something about "a boy and a girl living under the same roof," so Hiromi would be disobeying the family that took her in if she were to openly admit to Shin about her feelings. All in all, she's not just indecisive, but she has reasons to be indecisive. If anything, I'm more sorry for Hiromi because of her situation: She has Noe hanging around Shin at school and ever after school, and at home Shin's mother is preventing her for acting nothing less than cold towards Shin.

Poor girl =/ Shes not too tough but tries to be, people in school dont know her issues at home, and the only person who could understand her spends his time thinking about chickens, flying, and tears. Come on Shin, be a man, do the right thing!

I think if anything, this latest episode shows just how strong Hiromi's feelings for Shin is. Despite knowing the possiblity of being related to Shin for over a year and despite having already 'sealed' her treasured memories of her childhood with him, she went in deep shock when she hears Noe and Shin were going to go out.

Sounds to me like she was indeed trying to forget him by acting cold and distant, even to the point in lying about who she truly likes. But when it really comes down to it, she just can't forget her love for him no matter what she tried. This hit home especially hard for me because earlier, Jun metioned that it's painful to not to be able to like what you used to like before. At surface, this refers to the snow for Hiromi, or even Noe for Jun... but when you really think about it, it also applies with Shin for Hiromi.

It's really no wonder Hiromi never mentioned her feelings to Shin before. This is because Hiromi was not sure whether Shin liked her that way at all, and even if he did, she doesn't know if those feelings would be enough to survive the info that his mother told her. Makes sense, considering how she was under the impression that Shin was going to confess to her the episode before, and how sad and hurt she was when it was the exact opposite. Because if he indeed confessed (in her room no less, where he never went in before), it would show what she needed to know so that she could tell him the truth in return.

But now that Shin will be trying to forget his love for her next episode, all I can hope for is he doesn't succeed. But hey, that's part of drama isn't it? That will only show just how much he cares for her if he did fail as well where Hiromi failed before.

WoW? Anyone have a guess? Perhaps one of her duties in the house is to do the finances or something (the computer seems to be located in the "office").

She is indeed helping with data entry and/or similar related work for the business of Shin's father. They first reveal this about 3 minutes into episode 1 as Shin asks her what she's doing and she replies that it looks like they're short on people/manpower to do the work. We also see Hiromi later in episode 4 scrubbing the floor. Why don't we see Shin doing any work?
