Loved how the anime handled the flashback with Rouge, and Yuko Minaguchi did a nice job of voicing her even with only a few lines.

Yeah but so far in the series we've mainly seen the regular marines....cannon fodder, but here they have assembled the best, all the vice admirals and high ranking offciers including the strongest of teh regular marines. I'd wager a fair few of them will put up a good fight.

The One Piece anime being slow as hell isn't anything new, unfortunately. It does feel like it's gotten a bit worse lately though. It was a bit silly to reuse a scene from the previous opening in the last episode... they should find more creative ways to stall. At least it's still nowhere as silly as Bleach pretty much reairing a past episode as a flashback, so it's ok. I just hope the pace of the war won't be too slow or it'll ruing the tension.

Well I'll throw my speculation out there since I really don't have any idea.

Well a lot of the characters we know are located. It can't be the crew (certainly not Sanji ) since they are all spread out. Could be Rayleigh I suppose since he hasn't been seen in a while. Sure he's working on the ship, but I can't believe he'd sit around while the son of his captain (assuming he knows) gets executed. He definitely knows how to show up when you don't expect him.

It could be Shanks I guess since he does have some connection to this. Serving on Roger's ship and his connection to Luffy might mean he might interfere. Though I think it's less likely since he does have a whole crew and not sure he would be moving around on his own right into the middle of Marineford.

Really can't think of anyone else who might have reason to help Luffy out, could be in the area, and yet aren't in the spotlight right now.

Episode 461 covers the flashback of how Ace joined Whitebeard, and how he ends up going after Blackbeard. Pretty decent episode overall with some good music placement, though i can just already see the people who're gonna post saying they just want this damn war to start already.

Spoiler for Speculation on who opened the gate:

I was quite surprised when I saw the game open. At first, I was very uncertain to who it may have been, Possibly some disgruntle Marine or something along those lines. But then I watched episode 461. In the episode, there was something very interesting that was mentioned by Ivankov. He was speaking to Luffy and said, "what I'm concerned about is whether your father is here or not. Granted, Luffy did tell him that they do not share the same father. So it sort of hints that since it is not his son, he would not be there.

But this about their goals, having Luffy if Ivankov, I would not think that it would be too far of a stretch to think that his father or the revolutionist were there. Not too likely but it is a possibility. There is also the possibility that there are those who are out to betray the World Government like Kuma.

The final possibility that I can think of is that Shanks was there as well and helped out. He has been too quiet right now. And with the events involving 'Pops'. I can't think of anyone else who would be there.

Now, I just realized something. We saw the short pieces involving the rest of the crew. It is quite astonishing thinking that, there is a huge war going on and they are no where to be found. I wonder what will happen or how they would react when they realize what was happening that second. Oh, and does Pops' laugh bug anyone else. I was hoping it would be louder and more epic. Like something everyone would hear. As if a giant was laughing. I was a little disappointed, but besides that. Seeing those ships appear and then him walking up. Well yeah, I am sure all those marines just pissed their pants.

Whitebeard's voice kind of sucks. In my mind I thought he would sound like Charles Vi Brittania (Norio Wakamoto). He's an old dude who's extremely powerful and feared by the WG and he sounds goofy. Like a teenager trying to sound like an old man.

Personally i find Arimoto Kinryuu to be a perfect fit for Whitebeard. He has that old yet powerful voice, which you need for such a character.

I'm fine with his voice, what bothers me is his laugh. It's completely different from what I imagined... It sounds like he's mumbling rather than laughing. It's so odd.
