hmm, i thought that was the explanation for the evolution of hollows from normal hollow to vasto lord? what I want to know it how dordoni gained shinigami powers as aizen did not use the orb on him

an arrancar is an evolved vastolorde/adjuchas/gillian who has ripped off their mask and attained Shinigami powers...I am not an expert but i believe that is how it works for naturals. Then there is the whole debate as to whether an Gillian who evolved or was made into an Arrancar is more or less powerful than a vastolorde...some say vastolordes can be even more powerful than Arrancar in cases...I do so love this show hehehe

exactly, Grand Fisher went through this procedure after he has been wounded by Ichigo(Mangachapter 25, this wasn't in the Anime) -> a Hollow doesn't have to become a Menos to be arrancarized

there's still a chance Aizen used the Hogyoku after that to fix their imperfectness to a certain grade, but this is just my speculation based on some manga events which will be shown soon after the filler ended

I usually stay away from these kind of shows, endless shonen adventure with 100's of episodes and endless plot. Though one day I saw a few fights and they looked really cool. Ichigo seems like a likeable protagonist and powerful. Naruto is way too kiddish and DBZ is well just dumb to me.

I was wondering though, where should I start to see if I like this show or not? Do I need to start at the VERY beginning of the anime or should I only read the manga?

i finished reading the latest bleach chapter and now we all know where the Vizards' are from and how they got their Hollow powers.

my memory is a bit faded but how did ichigo get a hollow personality? it seems from the chapter "Turn Back the Pendulum 11" Aizen brought out the hollow within them. ichigo is a completely different story. he just straight up had one when he first turned into a shinigami.

sorry if my writing is not clear. i had no other idea how to write it out lol. but as i said.. my memory is a bit faded ;p

At the beginning of the series there are very small differences between anime and manga . So instead of reading the Bleach it would be better to watch it animated .

Regarding watching the series from the start I would suggest you to do so . SS arc has been one of the best arcs in the series . SS arc also has been a measuring stick for other arcs to follow.

Ichigo became a shinigami and hollow at the same time . He is a mixture of both classes . His evolution from an ordinary human being to a Vizard happened with onslaught of shinigami and hollow powers at the same time .He emerged out of the pit with a zanapakuto and a kamen .

Ichigo got his hollow side when he got his shinigami powers . How did the hollow side get activated ? Ichigo was a bit late to grasp his shinigami powers (zangetsu) .Ichigo gained his shinigami powers when hollow transformation had already set in . If Ichigo had failed to get his shinigami powers he would have turned into a hollow .

When chain of fate is cut you either turn into a shinigami or a hollow . Ichigo became a bit of both due to turn of events .

You don't always get shinigami powers that way, because in order to be a shinigami, you have to have high spiritual energy.

Do souls remember their past lives when they go into Soul Society?

I'm kind of confused because in the first movie they say that they usually don't, but the bird boy that Chad saves early in the series seems to remember everything.

I am sure they are mod souls of some sort...

As for how Ichigo got his powers, I have not heard anyone yet say that perhaps his powers or the extent of his powers may have something to do with the Hougyoku which was inside Rukia when she tranferred her powers to him originally.

So I'm assuming Nel became unranked when she transformed into a child. If she transforms back to her original form (not the child form) does that mean she will be ranked again?

She has since been replaced in the Espada rankings, so her original ranking is pretty much meaningless now.

Well I was just thinking that their skills don't actually improve, right? So if she transformed back then shouldn't she still be in the top 10? I just got the impression that the Espada have a certain skill level and its not like they get stronger or at least in the anime or manga it is not explicitly stated they can improve their skills and change their ranking (if you think about it their rankings are tatooed on the body). I could just be way off here tho

a different ranking and increase in power is possible, Noitra for example held the 8th rank some time ago and his zanpaktou looked different back then so there has to be some way to improve even after becoming an Espada

They do improve. Noitora has shown this very well, going from 8 - 3, and even further taunting nel, stating that he has already surpassed her.

Why does Rukia call Kenryuu Kenryuu-dono? Dono is a respectful honorific used to address those above your status (like sama, but more face saving), but Rukia is part of the Four Noble Houses, so she is technically above him...
