Very poor character development? Being an expy of Fate hurts too, because why settle for the expy when the original is still alive and kicking? It doesn't help that there are more interesting( and different compared to the veteran cast) characters too, such as "Hard-Work-Underdog Miura" and "Oh-So-Mysterious Sieg"

Lol, the irony. Literally the combat between idealism and realism. This is why the two worlds will never intersect with each other: we simply cannot predict what the hell would happen to write/draw a satisfying story, or even a meeting between Nanoha and Madoka's worlds. The above manga seem to assume that Nanoha isn't a Magical Girl I think...? Can't say much with so little panels.

Idealism vs. realism? Well...idealism would obviously win if thats how their two worlds worked.

Realism as in things don't always work out as you'd like them to...And the good guy doesn't always win. I think that's what he meant by 'realism' not that the story was realistic.

Even that's not quite right, since Gen is a morbid fuck who hates happiness. Having everything always work out perfectly is unrealistic, but everything always turning to shit isn't realistic either.
